VWS Athlete of the Month:
Lauren Clark ‘11
A diligent player who shows her many talents both on and off the soccer field, Lauren Clark has demonstrated real leadership for VWS this year. Says Coach Kayce Matsunaga, “Lauren is one of those players that you only have to tell once to do something and she will get the job done – and do it well.” Her leadership capabilities shine through her perseverance, drive, and the will never to give up. Coach Matsunaga explains, “One of my favorite things about Lauren is that she is usually one of the first people to show to practice, and the last to leave. Never giving attitude or excuses, constantly encouraging and motivating her teammates to be better, and always working hard to push herself to become a better athlete,” Lauren has shown all the qualities of an outstanding Webb athlete.
WSC Athlete of the Month:
Chandler Talleur '10
Co-captain of the varsity squad, two-time all-tourney player, leading scorer in 8 out of 10 games, leader in minutes played and second on the team in rebounding, Chandler Talleur has worked hard to emerge as an outstanding team player. “Chandler's game has really developed since he first came to Webb,” explains Coach Rick Duque. “At the start he was strictly a jump shooter. Now he is confident to take the ball to the basket and has a solid post up game as well.”
Selected as second team all-league in the Prep League last year as a sophomore, “Chandler has stepped it up as an upperclassman,” says Coach Duque. “Not only is he playing solid basketball, he is bringing a strong work ethic to practice each day. The effort that he brings helps his teammates to work hard as well.”
