WEBB KNOWS COLLEGES AND HOW TO MATCH STUDENTS WITH OPPORTUNITIES, WHETHER IT’S A SMALL, SELECT LIBERAL ARTS COLLEGE, AN IVY LEAGUE SCHOOL, OR A LARGE UNIVERSITY.
The Office of College Guidance has created a complete process that includes activities during all four years at Webb. One-on-one counseling with Webb's Director of College Guidance, Hector Martinez, is used to help match student interests to potential colleges. From there, students receive help planning for college entrance exams and through the whole application process.
Each year, representatives from nearly 100 colleges and universities across the country visit the Webb campus, giving students the opportunity to speak personally with admission counselors. Our library and online resources offer extensive materials on preparing for the SATs, performing a college search, writing admission essays, financial aid resources, and many other college-related subjects. Webb even hosts speakers and workshops each year to help students understand what they can do to better prepare themselves for the process.
But true college preparation begins long before testing.Academically, Webb graduates go beyond simply mastering their subject matter: they are problem solvers, self-motivated explorers, and independent thinkers. The boarding experience has prepared them for life on a college campus. Extra-curricular activities and athletics have given them confidence, self-discipline, and a keener sense of responsibility and integrity.
The results of Webb’s college preparation speak for themselves. In 2011, 84% of Webb’s graduates were admitted to at least one of their top choice colleges. About 80% will be attending colleges rated in the top 10% of the nation. And Webb has an admit rate to the Ivy League and Stanford that is four times the national average.
