All courses in The Webb Schools’ curriculum are college-preparatory in nature as well as ambitious in content and method. All are taught to a high standard, and all require significant student involvement both in and outside of class.

College-preparatory

Most courses at The Webb Schools carry this designation. These courses are characterized by rich, intellectually stimulating content.

Honors

Honors courses differ from regular college-preparatory sections of a course by employing more advanced and extensive content (typically, a different text and a somewhat more comprehensive syllabus). Many of these courses are designed to prepare students for subsequent study in an AP course.

Advanced Placement (AP)

AP courses are an integral part of The Webb Schools’ program. AP courses incorporate the content and methods prescribed by The College Board for that subject, and include test preparation activities and practice. In most subjects, the goals of the Advanced Placement Program of The College Board are complementary to Webb’s goals for its students. However, this does not mean that these are the only goals established for AP courses. Webb AP courses typically address other goals and purposes in addition to (but not at the expense of) those specific to preparation for the AP exam.
