The Webb Gauls played against the Rio Hondo Kares out on our diamond last week for another enthralling game of baseball. The game began with Rio Hondo up to bat, scoring two for their team before the bottom of the first inning. Webb got up to bat with Ian Chavez '14 being hit by the Kares’ pitcher and walking to first. Once Sam Woodward '12 stepped up to the plate, Chavez was on second and Joe Shaver '13 on first. Woodward hit a three run home run for the Gauls, making the score 3-2. Wyatt Christiansen '12 closed the scoring in the first with an RBI single scoring Jordan Veiga ’13.

Joe Shaver ’14 pitched for the second inning and didn’t allow the Kares to score for their team. The field flipped and Chavez was up to bat followed by Britton Bentley '12. Chavez on second, Bentley on first, the crowd waited as Woodward went up to the mound. Hitting his second home run, he scored three more runs making the score 7-2. The game continued with Christiansen allowing Veiga to score another run. The third inning began and Rio Hondo finally scored two more runs. Ian Henry '15 was on third, Chavez—after being hit for a second time—was on second, and Bentley was on first when Aaron DiGiamarino '13 walked to first allowing Chavez to run home.

With the score 9-4, Veiga went up to the plate and got a single allowing Chavez and DiGiamarino to book it home. The game paused at the score of 11-4 when the umpire got nailed in the mask by the Rio Hondo pitcher. The umpire recovered quickly and the fourth inning began with Shaver as our pitcher, once again, not allowing Rio to score. In the top of the fifth, Rio and Webb both scored one run. Robbie Armatas '14 pitched in the sixth inning also not allowing Rio to score. By the bottom of the sixth inning, Henry was on third, Chavez—once again having been hit—was on second, and Bentley on first when DiGiamarino batted an outfielder bringing Henry and Chavez home. The score was 14-5 when Woodward was up to bat. Almost hitting a home run but falling short, Bentley made it home, closing the game with the ten-point lead.

The Webb Gauls beat the Rio Hondo Kares 15-5 with Chavez getting hit three times in one game and Woodward earning two home runs, one single, and seven RBIs.

Overall Record: 14-2
League Record: 6-1
