On Friday, April 20, VWS softball hosted a game against Rio Hondo and was defeated, 3-16. Although it was a disappointing loss, the Gauls were proud as this game against the Kares went much better than in previous years. The team knew it would be difficult yet they didn’t stop trying, and this is partly due to the encouragement and positive attitude of the team’s new coach, Thomas O’Dell. Rachel Sprague '14 said, “Coach O’Dell’s mentality helps us succeed, as he doesn’t want to see us give up.”
