The Webb swim team traveled to Pasadena Poly for a league meet and came home defeated by the Panthers. As Sam Chen '12 said, “The meet away from home at Poly would have gone well if we hadn’t made so many mistakes.” Two of the three relays for varsity boys (the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay) were disqualified. There were also many close races, one of which was the varsity boys’ 100-yard butterfly, where Sam Chen '12, who usually grabs first place for this event, finished second with a difference of 0.08 seconds from a 6-point first place. According to Coach Rosenfeld, the reason for the team’s defeat was not that Webb had just returned from a two-week spring break, but that the majority of the squad was “lacking the desire to beat their opponents.” He also concluded that the next two weeks of practice will be very intense in order for the swimmers to achieve good results during league finals.
Overall Record: 2-3

Week Ahead: At home against Westridge on 4/19, prelims at Pasadena Poly on 4/26, and finals at Pasadena Poly on 4/28.
