Webb made a short trip to Zinda Field at Claremont McKenna College last week for the Prep League Track & Field Finals. Chadwick, Flintridge Prep, Mayfield, Pasadena Poly, Westridge, and the ever-amazing Webb Schools were up against each other in an event we hope to never forget.

The first great feat occurred in the girls’ 4x100 relay, then in the last meters after Nancy Cheng '12 passed the baton to Amara Berry '12 who was behind but sped up amazingly and narrowly got first place. In the boys’ 4x100, the Gauls got third. In the girls’ 100 high hurdles, Berry got first with a time of 15.38 and Ivie Tokunboh '12 got third. In the boys’ 110 high hurdles, Zach Zanft '12 got second and T.J. Fenton '13 got third. Then in the boys’ 400m dash, Christopher Hernandez '15 got fifth with a time of 55.03. Berry and Alicia L. Zheng '14 did great in the 100m dash, with Berry getting first with a time of 12.25 and Zheng getting fifth. In the boys’ 100m dash, Steve Agajanian '12 earned second place. The girls’ 300m hurdles went very well too with Tokunboh coming in second in a close race, with a time of 49.22. In the boys’ 300m hurdles, Tommy Tsao '12 got fifth and Nick Pankratz '13 got second place. The girls’ 200m dash went great with Berry securing first place with a time of 25.21.

Field events were awesome; the boys were splendid. In the long jump, Andy Lee '12 got second place; in the triple jump and high jump Pankratz got second in both; and in discus William Ponty '12 got fourth. The girls did a great job as well. In shot put, Barbara Smith '13 got third and in discus she got fourth, with Ivey Dahlstrom '15 coming in behind her in fifth place. The events in all were an amazing example of Webb’s teamwork and perseverance, and after the last event, Webb’s family side came out when the entire team carried on the tradition of “Lincoln Logs.” Girls and boys were laughing and rolling triumphantly over each other, celebrating their second-place win for both WSC and VWS. Then that night, Webb worked up such an appetite that IHOP ran out of food! Another amazing feat Webb did that evening.
