The Week @ Webb is a photojournal of the previous week's events both on and off campus. Well, it has certainly been quite a year here at The Webb Schools! Congratulations to the Class of 2012 for their recent graduation, all the best in your future endeavors. This will be the last weekly update of TWAW until the school year starts next August - though I will post a "Best Of" during the summer months. Until then, thank you for your support and viewership during the course of the last year, it has been very enjoyable for me to share these moments in the lives of Webb's students with you.

  • Underclassmen eager for their science finals to start were held at the door by Dr. Farke and Mr. Sittig on the first day of finals.
  • This picture garnered some great comments from Alumni and others when it was posted on Webb's Facebook page. So, does anyone else get a feeling of test anxiety when you think back to final exams?

    It's hard to tell who's having the most fun here, the students, or Webb's Director of Student Life, Mr. Bartlett.
  • For more than a year, the flags in the dining hall had been removed for fireproofing, but thanks to the Class of 2012's senior gift to Webb, the flags are back on display.
  • Thank you, Class of 2012!
  • The VWS and WSC school awards were on Friday.
  • Each academic department chair read wonderful descriptions of the deserving award recipient's dedication to their studies, which served as a great reminder of the high caliber students at Webb.
  • The awards night served as the final formal event in Mudd Auditorium, which is slated for a full renovation over the next year.

  • Christina Mercer-McGinley '84 is the first VWS Pioneer to graduate a child from Webb. Congratulations Christina and Tim!
  • Rehearsals for the VWS Candlelight Ceremony took place on Friday morning.
  • The class graciously posed outside of the Chapel after rehearsals.
  • The boys also posed after their commencement rehearsals on the Alamo lawn.
  • Graduating seniors are asked to wear bright colors, underclasswomen are asked to wear white, as you can see in Ms. Jeantette's sunglass reflection.
  • Larry Ashton '70, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Alf Museum, and Gordon Steel '63 Webb Schools Trustee, were all smiles for the VWS Commencement.
  • Brooke, Shiraz, Amara, Emma, and Sabrina before the ceremony. A full gallery of the day is available in the "gallery" section of the website.
  • A proud moment for science teacher Kevin Quick and English teacher Dr. Tracy Miller, who were awarded the Jean E. Miller Excellence in Teaching Award, and the Thompson and Vivian Webb Excellence in Teaching Award, respectively.
  • In what will seem like a very short amount of time, we'll all be celebrating these juniors during next year's WSC ceremony on the lawn of the Alamo Dormitory.

    Tommy does the first (but will it be the last?) "Tebow" after receiving his diploma and Bible from Mr. Stockdale.
  • Two more teachers were honored with awards during the boys' ceremony. Morgan Kapp, Spanish, and Andy Dhalstrom, English, were awarded the Laurence McMillian Excellence in Teaching Award, and the James T. Demetriades '80 Endowed Prize for Unbounded Teaching, respectively. Dr. Theresa Smith, Director of Academic Affairs is on the right.
  • Nothing feels as good as getting a hug and a "thank you" from a student who has just graduated.
