There is likely no greater legacy of athletic excellence at Webb than that of VWS and WSC cross country. In fall 2019, VWS cross country secured its fifth league championship in a row and WSC cross country won its seventh consecutive league championship. The program is renowned in Southern California and beyond.
VWS XC Head Coach Morgan Kapp
Morgan Kapp has coached for Webb in different athletic arenas but debuted as the head coach for track in 2021. She was recently certified as a Level 1 track and field coach.
Her favorite part of coaching is seeing the dedication and resilience the athletes have for their sport and hopes to challenge her students both on and off the field, wherever possible.
Kapp attended Bucknell University where she earned her B.A. and Chapman University for her teaching credential. She is an experienced athlete, competing in cycling throughout college and for 10 years afterward.
When not coaching the track team, Kapp teaches Spanish at Webb.
WSC XC Coach Brian Caldwell
Over the years, Brian Caldwell has coached baseball, football, tennis, track and field, volleyball, soccer, cross country, softball and basketball teams. He has coached at public high schools (such as Claremont High), private Catholic schools (like Damien) and AYSO.
As an athlete, Caldwell has participated in 50-mile runs, the Ironman triathlon and open ocean swim races that range from two to 10 miles.
Caldwell earned a Master of Science in math from Cal Poly Pomona, where he also earned his undergraduate degree and teaching credential. In addition to coaching, he teaches for Webb’s Mathematics Department.
