Professional focus: I teach Evolutionary Biology and serve as Webb’s Director of Equity.
Scholarly or professional activities: I will be attending numerous equity-related workshops and collaborating with other schools on DEI-related endeavors. I have taken students on multiple field study and service trips to Hawaii, the Galapagos and Rwanda.
I am a dedicated diversity, equity and inclusion practitioner with over 20 years of educational experience. Since joining Webb in 2018, I have partnered with my fellow faculty and staff members to bring Webb students to the People of Color and Student Diversity Leadership Conferences, sponsored multiple efforts to strengthen the Webb community and support the campus Empowering Student Voices Initiative and Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) affinity groups.
This includes designing and facilitating community reads of Ibram X. Kendi’s “How to Be an Antiracist” for faculty, staff, administration and parents.
Grew up: I spent 88% of my life in Chicago.
