Professional focus: I teach Honors Precalculus, AP Calculus BC and Advanced Studies Linear Algebra. I am also assistant coach for VWS and WSC varsity volleyball.

Scholarly or professional activities: I am Webb’s longest serving current teacher, having started in 1987. Over the years, I’ve taught virtually every course in our math curriculum. I’m a big fan of using interactive Geogebra worksheets to assist students learning math concepts, including 3-D visualizations for my linear algebra students. I am a two-time winner of the Perry Award and Jean E. Miller Excellence in Teaching Award. I also serve as a reader for AP Statistics exams.

In the past, I’ve served as head coach for VWS varsity volleyball, head coach of WSC varsity tennis for almost 20 years and dorm head for the upper dorms.

Years as an educator: 42, with 34 of those at Webb.

Grew up: Pennsylvania

Live on campus: Yes

Favorite music or musician: I like variety in my music. I enjoy listening to classical, pop, hip-hop, etc. I refuse to listen to the same kind of music all of the time. My phone ringtone is from “Burning Down the House” by The Talking Heads. My favorite a cappella group, Pentatonix, released “Despacito x Shape of You” which combines Luis Fonsi and Ed Sheeran in a very clever mix. I was fortunate to be able to attend a Yuja Wang piano recital at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Amazing!

Favorite TV show or movie: I love watching sports and cooking shows.

Favorite book or author: I enjoy reading mystery/thriller novels for pure escapist relaxation. Harlan Coben, Jo Nesbo, David Baldacci, Karin Slaughter, Lee Child and Robert Crais are some of my favorite authors.
