David Winfield Scott ’33, PhD (1916–2009) was a noted American artist and founding director of the National Museum of American Art at the Smithsonian Institute.
He graduated from Harvard University and studied painting at the Art Students’ League. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. Dr. Scott held two masters degrees and received his doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley. His father was a professor at Pomona College.
