Week of Sports, January 28-February 2

The final week of the regular season brings with it the final playoff push for our boys teams, a final lap for our league champion girls basketball and soccer teams, and one last tournament for girls water polo to determine the league champion and playoff position!

  • Boys soccer kicks off this week with a home game Monday afternoon against Samueli Academy. A win clinches the third and final playoff spot out of the Academy league. A loss or tie means Samueli Academy will finish in that spot. Either way the regular season will end on Wednesday with a home game vs Tarbut V' Torah.
  • Girls soccer has clinched at least a share of the Academy League title and needs just one win in their final three games this week to take the outright crown. The first game is today away at Brethren Christian, followed by a home game vs Connelly tomorrow and finishing the season with a home game vs Fairmont Prep on Thursday.
  • Girls Water Polo will compete in the Hacienda League tournament this week and enters as the #1 seed. On Tuesday they will play the winner of the Wet Covina-Charter Oak game from earlier Tuesday afternoon and then on Thursday they will likely play the winner of the Walnut-Los Altos match with the league title on the line for the winner. All of the games this week will be at Charter Oak High School.
  • Wrestling will be competing at the league individual tournament on Tuesday at Lucerne Valley. Top three finishers in each weight class will move onto the CIF individual tournament on February 8th and 9th.
  • Girls Basketball has also clinched no worse then a share of the league title and also needs one win this week to take the title outright. First up is Southlands Christian on Tuesday before they finish the regular season with a game at CC Downey on Thursday.
  • Boys Basketball needs three wins this week to keep their guaranteed playoff hopes alive. First up is a game at current last place in league CC Downey on Tuesday. A win vs CC Downey would likely make it (contingent on results of other games) so that a win vs Southlands Christian on Thursday would result in a tie for third between Webb and Southlands Christian. Should that happen, Webb and Southlands Christian would play again on Friday evening with the winner taking the last and final guaranteed playoff spot from the Academy league. If the play in game does not happen the team will finish their regular season with a game at Rio Hondo Prep on Friday night.

  • Spring Musical - The Pirates of the Penzance

The Pirates of Penzance is a pure joy from start to finish. When putting this show together, I wanted the audience to have as much fun as the cast. To that end, you will be surrounded by pirates, maidens and policemen throughout the evening. It’s a first-rate opportunity to join a rollicking band of pirates - so by all means feel free to climb aboard and join in with the silliness! Raise your pirate glass, make the most of fleeting leisure, slap your chest and sing – I guarantee it will make you more than merry.

  • Class of 2019

Members of the Class of 2019 faced tremendous competition this year as they applied to colleges and universities across the country and around the world. While each felt the stress of the selective admission process, our seniors proved once again that good character coupled with a dedication to your studies really pays off.

In 2019 we saw 100 percent of the graduating class admitted to a selective four-year college or university—90 percent will attend a college ranked in the top 10 percent in the nation. On average each of our students applied to eight colleges and was admitted to four or more of them.

We congratulate members of the Class of 2019 for their amazing college choices and wish them well on the adventures ahead!
