Six Webb Students Named National Merit Scholarship Finalists
The National Merit Scholarship Corp. (NMSC ) has recognized six students in The Webb Schools’ Class of 2023 as National Merit Scholarship Finalists for their outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
The students include Nancy Lin and Jasmine Wan from Vivian Webb School and Jeffrey Baek, Stanley Jian, Austin Ra and Richard Wu from the Webb School of California.
The students are among 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the PSAT in fall 2021. NMSC first selected 50,000 top performers before naming 16,000 Semi-Finalists in fall 2022 – less than 1% of each state’s seniors.
From the Semi-Finalists, 15,000 have been selected as Finalists.
The students now will be considered for nearly $28 million in scholarships from corporations, NMSC and colleges awarded to about 7,250 students in spring and summer.
