VWS Soccer Seeks First State Title

Vivian Webb’s varsity soccer team will vie for its first-ever SoCal Regional Championship title at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5 in a rematch against Arrowhead Christian Academy of Redlands at The Webb Schools.

Webb, cheered on by a raucous crowd of students, parents, alumni and faculty and staff, edged the Eagles, 3-2, to win the CIF Southern Section Division 6 title on Feb. 26.

In that tournament, Webb was the No. 2 seed and Arrowhead was the No. 1 seed. Now, those seeds are reversed.

In this tournament, Webb had a bye for its first game and then overwhelmed Mount Miguel High School, 9-2, in the semifinal match on March 3, preserving its undefeated, 19-0 season.

Arrowhead defeated Geffen Academy, 4-0, and Bishop Diego High School, 5-2, to reach the finals. The team is 22-2.

“This game is expected to be another thrilling contest between these two extraordinary teams,” said Steve Wishek, Webb’s athletic director. “We’d love to pack the stands again and show these athletes just how much support they have.”

Tickets for the game are $8 for students and $12 for adults. They can be purchased through GoFan.
