Webb Schools Prepare for 2022-23 Academic Year

The Webb Schools are abuzz this week as the campus community prepares for the start of the 2022-23 academic year.

New faculty and staff members are attending briefing sessions on the academic and community responsibilities that are part of a boarding school program. Returning faculty and staff are reconnecting and checking in with campus leaders.

Student leaders will return a few days earlier than their classmates for their own start-of-school preparations.

And the entire Webb community will come together for its annual Orientation Weekend on August 20 and 21 – a program that is both part preparation and part celebration of the year to come.

Webb’s facilities team spent the summer completing installation of the latest in air conditioning technology across the campus’ 10 dorms. Started last year, the upgrade not only makes the dorms more comfortable, but also helps provide state-of-the-art air filtration.

Also underway is an update to the Fawcett Library and the full opening of Webb’s Hooper Community Center, which has quickly become the heart of the student community.

Of special note in the coming months will be the campuswide celebration of Webb’s centennial. The event is slated for October 22, to coincide with Webb’s Alumni Weekend. Plans include a short film commemorating Webb’s history and a performance by the student orchestra featuring an original Centennial composition by talented musical director and composer Andy Street, a Webb parent.
