Webb Teams Compete in Post-season Play

It was a great fall season for Webb athletics with four of our seven teams (VWS golf, VWS tennis, VWS cross country and WSC cross country) reaching the post season and the WSC cross country team bringing in its seventh consecutive league title!

In addition to bringing home another league championship, the WSC XC team qualified for the CIF-SS finals after upsetting several higher-ranked teams in the prelims. The VWS tennis team also made a spectacular post-season run, advancing all the way to the CIF quarterfinals where the squad lost in a tie breaker to the No. 1 seed.

In addition to our team success, seven athletes earned first team all-league accolades:

• Cross country: Savanna Cespedes ’22 in Volleyball, Connor Plunkett ’23 and Garret Cordova-Caddes ’23
• Water polo: Matthew Gooch ’22
• Football: Alejandro Fountain ’24, Bryan Oglesby ’23, and Bradyn Wishek ’22.

Two Webb Athletes received player of the year honors:

• Mia Baldwin ’22 was the San Joaquin League Libero of the Year
• Etienne Griffon ’23 was the San Joaquin League Boys Runner of the Year

Beyond the team and individual accolades, just seeing our athletes back on the field of play after an 18-month layoff for most of these sports was the true reward! Go Gauls!
