    2010 Peccary Society Dinner

    Remembering Notable Paleontologist S. David Webb '53

    S. David Webb '53, PhD, a member of The Webb Schools' founding family, passed away on September 12, 2019. Webb was a Distinguished Research Curator Emeritus of Vertebrate Paleontology at the Florida Museum of Natural History and a Distinguished Research Professor of Zoology and Geology at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He was also a past President of the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology.  In 2010 Webb was the keynote speaker at the Alf Museum's annual Peccary Society Dinner.     Many Thanks for Your Support!

    Thank you to the 1,500 alumni, parents, past parents, grandparents and friends who enabled Webb to end the 2018-19 Webb Fund year successfully on June 30. Your generosity helped The Webb Fund to raise over $1.9 million, plus additional support for endowment and capital improvements, bringing total gifts to $7.9 million, including 13 new estate gifts, which has become an ever-increasing and important part of our advancement program. Over 799 alumni, spanning nine decades, participated with gifts received from nearly every class between 1937 and 2018. Thank you for your contributions!

    Summertime at the Alf Museum

    Summer is a busy time at the Alf museum. During the first half of June, a small crew comprised of museum staff and Bob Stoddard ’15 closed out the Cripe Site in southern Utah. This quarry was discovered by Jeff Cripe ’08 back in 2005 and has been the museum’s main dig site ever since.

    During his tenure, Robert Connolly, Sr. was a friendly and supportive presence on campus, an inspirational educator to many students, including his own son. He is remembered not only for his service inside the classroom, but as a teacher they could relate to beyond math. Bob Connolly Jr. connected to his father through athletic and academic pursuits, and now he and his wife Nancy Tung have created an endowed fund in his father’s memory. “Dad always said that of all his teaching experiences, Webb was the best experience of his career,” said Connolly Jr.
