International Applicants

The Webb Schools welcomes applications from international students. Currently 21% of our student population is international, representing 14 different countries. Our students bring a rich experience of culture to what is one of the most diverse school communities of any U.S. boarding school.

While we recognize we have many enrolled students with international experiences, we define an international student as a non-U.S. citizen who does not hold a U.S. passport, and will be required to receive a form I-20 and obtain an F-1 (student) visa to enter the U.S.

International applicants follow much of the same application steps as domestic applicants, with the addition of demonstrated language proficiency.  Please review the following Application Steps.

Application Steps

List of 7 frequently asked questions.

  • Step 1: Submit the Inquiry

Please complete before scheduling a campus visit and/or interview. The Inquiry asks for basic information regarding the student and allows you to stay connected with Webb and receive important updates about your campus visit and the campus community.
  • Step 2: Schedule Your Admission Test

Register to take the required standardized admission test. Students may choose one of the following:

    Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT)
    Independent Schools Entrance Exam (ISEE)

Priority round applicants must take the required admission test between October and January. Select testing dates are available for the SSAT at Webb's campus between October and January. Registration for the test may be completed through the SSAT website, and test locations are available overseas, found by using the "Find an SSAT Test Location" feature on the homepage of the SSAT website.
  • Step 3: Schedule Your Language Proficiency Test

A language proficiency test is required if: your primary language is not English and you have not been taught primarily in English for the last two years of school in a fully English-based curriculum.  We will only accept testing scores directly from the testing organization.

Additional Information for Applicants from China

As we continue to receive more applications from qualified applicants from China, we partner with Vericant to assist with conducting preliminary interviews. Students currently attending school in China are required to complete a Vericant interview.  Students from China currently attending school in the U.S. should not complete a Vericant interview, and should contact us directly. Students who are exempt from taking the TOEFL are not required to complete a Vericant interview.

Applicants must schedule and complete the Vericant interview by December 15th, but are encouraged to do so earlier. You will receive notification from us by email indicating if you have been invited for a formal interview with us approximately 2-3 weeks from the time you complete your Vericant interview. Applicants who are not invited for a formal interview may select to continue with the application process.
  • Step 5: Submit Your Application

The Webb Schools uses the Gateway to Prep Schools common application which consists of:

For students who take the SSAT, there is no charge to take The Snapshot. Once registered for the SSAT, access to The Snapshot will be available beginning September 25, 2017.

Students planning to take the ISEE must contact our Admission Office to gain access to the Snapshot. There is a $25 fee for ISEE test takers.

The Snapshot is recommended, but not required.
