Christina Mercer McGinley ’84 is one of the original VWS Pioneers who helped to develop Vivian Webb’s school rules, government, and emblem. She was active in student government, on the Honor Cabinet, and in Blue and Gold, yearbook, varsity basketball, theater, glee club, and Chamber Singers. Christina has remained an active member of the Webb community, serving on the Alumni Council, Board of Trustees and in 2002 as the VWS commencement speaker. She earned her BA from Pomona College and her MA and PhD in English literature from UC Riverside. Her daughter, Corrine ’16, attends UC Berkeley; her son, Tim ’12, is a graduate of UC Berkeley.
Sponsored by the Robert ’53 and MeiLi Hefner Foundation and offered here at Webb to two current students, The Hefner Initiative aims to foster a close and positive relationship between the people of China and the US. This extraordinary 12-day summer program includes travel this year to Beijing and Suzhou—allowing for living/learning opportunities with host students and families.
