Taylor Stockdale, Head of Schools

Taylor Stockdale became the sixth head of The Webb Schools in 2010. Since that time, he has led the Webb community in the creation and adoption of The Centennial Strategic Plan 1922-2022. This document more than any other illustrates Webb's commitment over the next decade to its mission and its core values of honor and moral courage, unbounded thinking, distinctive leadership and service to others. It also offers a clear blueprint of the school's visionary plans over the next decade.

Mr. Stockdale is currently working with his senior administrative team and high caliber faculty in reinvigorating Webb's curriculum so as to ensure a relevant and dynamic experience for each Webb student. Included in these efforts have been the construction of a humanities program, addition of advanced computer science courses, expansion of the arts to include digital media, problem-based math and applied science courses utilizing the unparalleled resources of the Alf Museum, and a broader suite of co-curricular opportunities offering expanded athletic choice, robotics, debate, dance, and an improved residential experience. Finally, Mr. Stockdale has committed to taking full advantage of being the only boarding school in the Greater Los Angeles area, and as such, is working to establish formal partnerships with other top learning institutions such as Harvey Mudd College, Claremont McKenna College, UC Riverside and others. These affiliations are ongoing and will allow Webb's upper division students unprecedented access to real-life, hands-on experiences to expand their learning and sharpen their entrepreneurial mindsets for leading in a global economy.

In addition to this current work, over his 29 year tenure at Webb, he led efforts to achieve the largest campaign in the school's history. Fulfilling Our Promise achieved over $50 million in contributions for annual, capital and endowment purposes over an eight-year period. Planning for The Centennial Campaign and The Centennial Celebration 1922 - 2022 are currently underway.

Mr. Stockdale graduated from Colorado College with a B.A. in history and political science. He received his M.A. in economics from the University of Delaware, and a Certificate of Leadership from The Drucker School at Claremont Graduate University. Representing an influential voice in the educational arena, he is an active member of both the California Association of Independent Schools and the National Association of Independent Schools. He currently serves on the Educational Records Board, North American Boarding School Initiative, and is Of-Counsel with Marts and Lundy, Inc. He has served as a trustee for South Kent School and Saint Mark's School.
