On April 26, the Alumni Council hosted the annual Senior Dinner in honor of the Class of 2017. President Rahmi Mowjood '90, Council members, faculty and staff were on hand to enthusiastically welcome the future graduates into the Webb alumni community. Highlights included hundreds of photographs shared on each table showing freshmen through senior year, and a Taco Bar catered by Webb parent John Fuelling of The Corner Butcher.
Council President Mowjood encouraged the seniors to stay in touch after graduation, sharing college updates and informing Webb about life changing events. He introduced Laura Wensley, Lexus Beaman ’08, and Rose Gonzalez of the Alumni Office to the graduating class, who can be valuable resources in getting connected to the network of Webb alums across the country and the world. Available to fellow Webbies as resources, the alumni network can assist college students with internship and job opportunities. President Mowjood also promoted Webb's social media networks (LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook) as excellent ways to keep updated on school and alumni news.
Also present were Dwight Morgan '65, Whitney Wharton ’05, Doug Gregg ‘66, Coleen Martinez '86 and Janel Henriksen Hastings '87 of the Alumni Council, as well as faculty advisors Dr. Elizabeth Cantwell, Geoffrey Owers, Brendan Beikmann, Bana Dahi, Rick Duque, Melanie Bauman, Michael Szanyi, Melissa Blomberg, Howard Kalter, and Dr. Theresa Smith.
The evening concluded with the Alumni Council presenting the Class of 2017 with a special gift: a Class of 2017 mug filled with a Webb scarf (young ladies) or a Webb tie (young men).
We are pleased and excited to announce the appointment of Jennifer Liu as Webb’s Director of Parent Relations and Special Events effective November 1. In this position, Liu will oversee our parent relations program, which serves more than 750 current parents worldwide and an active volunteer network through our Affiliates parent organization.
An opportunity to pick the brain of award-winning author John Scalzi '87, is not one you want to miss. Discussing topics ranging from what exactly defines a burrito to what projects he currently has in production, there's never a dull moment with Scalzi.
For Webb sports fans who can’t attend a game, or if you’d like to follow along with the live stats and scores from our athletic contests, most of our home games will be covered live with video and play-by-play at The NFHS Network.
There is no greater testament to The Webb Schools' values, culture of service and leadership than our extraordinary alumni. Through our annual Alumni Awards program, the Alumni Council and the Board of Trustees honor alumni whose service and achievements truly exemplify the qualities and values that Webb represents. We are pleased to announce the five distinguished recipients of Webb's 2018 Alumni Awards.
To learn more about working in independent schools and meet with school representatives about open positions, please join Webb and 30 other participants on Saturday, February 23 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at Harvard-Westlake School in Studio City.
