Robert “Bob” Cline '51

Robert “Bob” Cline '51 was first elected to the California State Assembly in 1970 as a Republican. He represented the 64th Assembly District in Los Angeles County. Because of redistricting, he finished his career in 1980 representing the 37th Assembly District which included the Northern San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley and eastern Ventura County.
While in the State Assembly, Bob introduced a variety of bills that covered tax cuts, the death penalty, completion of the Simi-San Fernando Valley Freeway, education standards, and special education. While in Sacramento, he served on the following committees of the California Legislature:

Human Resources, 1979-1980
Intergovernmental Relations, 1977
Public Employees and Retirement, 1979-1980

Water, Parks and Wildlife, 1978-1980

Prior to his service with Califonia, Bob was a partner with the Cline, Holzberg Company and owned Robert C. Cline Company, both specializing in financial, tax, and accounting consulting. Bob was a member of the San Fernando Valley Business and Professional Association, the Kiwanis, the Canoga Park Chamber of Commerce and the Van Nuys Jaycees. From 1962-1969, he was a member of the Republican County Central Committee, served on the Republican State Central Committee from 1962-1970, and was active in the West Valley Republicans. He was also former President of the Los Angeles Community College Board of Trustees, elected and served between 1969-1971.

Born in San Francisco in 1933, Bob attended the Webb School of California for four years, graduating in 1951. He was a member of Block W, Varsity Football, as well as Skeet Club Chairman. He received both his undergraduate degree and his MBA in Finance from UC Berkeley. Bob was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in a NIKE Guided Missile Battalion from 1956-1958. He married Betty C. Robison and they had two children, Bruce and Caren. Bob operated Cline and Duplissea, a full service governmental relations and lobbying firm representing business interests in the California State Capitol until his retirement in 2009.

  • Winter Sports Round-Up & Honors 2018

    Once again, Webb athletes had a strong showing across the board during the 2018 winter season. Led by WSC soccer, which finished the season League Champions and with a deep run into CIF, both VWS and WSC athletics posted very positive results. VWS Water Polo also finished its league play in second place.
    “It is always great each season to not only see our athletes and teams be successful on the field of play, but to see them learn and grow as individuals and part of a community,” said Director of Athletics Steve Wishek.
