John W. Verano ’73, PhD, is a professor in the Department of Anthropology at Tulane University. Before joining the Tulane faculty in 1994, he spent seven years at the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution. John has taught osteology and paleopathology courses in Mexico and Peru, where he was a Fulbright Lecturer in 1989 at the Catholic University in Lima and in 1996 at the National University of Trujillo.
