In 2012 Paul Lai '87 joined Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA as head of corporate and investment banking for Asia. BBVA, Spain's second largest bank, owns a 15% stake in China CITIC Bank Corp. and was the first Spanish lender to offer yuan trade settlement accounts for corporate clients, according to the company. Previously Paul ran the investment banking unit for HSBD in Hong Kong until early 2008. He joined Society Generale SA in September that year, and ran the investment banking business for Greater China at CLSA in January 2010.
