Wendin Smith '89

Wendin D. Smith '89 is the former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. A graduate of Dartmouth College, she received her PhD and Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. Smith is a consultant and lecturer in combating WMD, national security, nonproliferation, environmental security, and related fields.

She has supported the U.S. Departments of Energy and Defense in nonproliferation and threat reduction programs in the former Soviet States. In the 1990's, Smith served as Director of the Moscow-based U.S. Information Agency's American Center, and supported the administration of Freedom Support Act programs which sponsored the study of former Soviet students in the United States.

Smith serves on Webb's Board of Trustees.
