Dahlstrom '16 Helps Cal Freshmen Crew to Pac-12 Championship
On Sunday, Ray Dahlstrom '16 and the Freshmen 8+ crew won the Pac-12 Championship at Lake Natoma, helping Cal to a second overall team finish, behind the University of Washington. Cal and Washington entered Sunday's championships ranked 1-2 in the nation. Cal was the 2016 Pac-12 and National champions.
Ray was rowing 6th seat for the race and helped his boat to a finish time of 5:48.754, over 6 seconds ahead of the Huskies crew. Cal's Freshmen 8+ was the only crew to beat the University of Washington, which won every other category that day. Cal's freshmen were undefeated throughout their season, so they keep their shirts. The full race season began in April, and highlights include winning the Princeton Chase and beating the Ivies.
Ray is enjoying Cal classes too, majoring in Molecular Biology in the College of Natural Resources.
