Class of 2017: The College List

Members of the Class of 2017 had an extraordinary year in college admissions. Over 90% of the class will attend a college ranked in the top 10% in America and 100% of the graduating class was admitted to a selective four-year college or university—including such prestigious schools as Stanford, Columbia, Dartmouth, West Point, Williams, Wellesley, Smith, Johns Hopkins, Berkeley, UCLA, Northwestern, U of Chicago, Middlebury, Tufts, Haverford, and Carleton, along with multiple acceptances to The Claremont Colleges, NYU, and USC. We even have our first student going to the highly selective Yale University NUS program in Singapore!

In fact, with over 400 acceptances from over 150 different college and universities, all 104 of our soon-to-be Webb graduates should be very proud of their achievements! At a time when competition to get into the best colleges is so fierce, it is truly remarkable that this class has been blessed with so many outstanding acceptances and final college choices.

  • About Art School

In an expose of sorts, one pegged to the publication of Gary Alan Fine’s new book Talking Art (U of Chicago Press, 2018), Charlie Tyson explores the facts and fictions surrounding MFA programs in the visual arts in America. A review of Fine’s book finds that seven of the 10 most expensive higher-education institutions in the U.S. are, in fact, art schools. But is it worth it? Maybe, if you want to be a professional artist. Tyson’s article also notes that more than half of the top 250 best-selling American artists at auction have an MFA.
