Albert Zhang ’18 is among the best high school badminton players in the state of California. His recent 6th place finish in the CIF State Badminton Championship marks the first-ever Webb appearance in the tournament, and certainly the school’s highest finish – and he’s only a junior!
Zhang is a bit of a newcomer to badminton, which makes his achievement stand out even more. “I started playing a couple years before I got to Webb, so it’s still a fairly new sport for me. I’ve put in a lot of time training and working with my coaches to get to this level. I’m thankful for the opportunity.”
As the team’s top scorer, Zhang was named Most Valuable Player by Coach Quick at their year-end banquet. He’ll continue to train and play this summer when he returns home to Shanghai, China.
