The Independent School Alliance is looking for two Fall 2017 interns to support the organization’s initiatives. We are seeking enthusiastic, creative, and responsible students and recent graduates interested in several internships in our Culver City office. The interns will assist in the areas of: admissions and programs, or development. These positions are a unique opportunity to join a small team and learn about how to run a 501c3 nonprofit program and put your skills and education to real use. All interns will receive a small stipend at the end of their term.
Research appropriate funding sources, organizations and potential donors and participate in LOI/grant preparation
Assist in grant preparation to secure funding from various sources
Update and maintain accurate development and donor databases
Assist with marketing communications research and the creation of collateral materials, including brochures, invitations, newsletters and e- blast communications
Create website content and manage online outreach and promotion using Facebook and Twitter
Work with the Director of Marketing and Development to further engage Board of Directors, alumni, and donors
Explore creative ways to increase the organization’s visibility.
ADMISSIONS AND PROGRAMS INTERNSHIP
Provide administrative and program support for the organization’s admissions and diversity team
Run student and enrollment data analytics as requested by the Executive Director or admissions team
Work with admissions team to field candidate phone calls and internet inquiries and schedule visitors to the office for counseling appointments
Assemble packages, mail admissions materials and other pertinent information
Organize and maintain candidate files (electronic and paper)
Provide back up to the Office Administrator, including but not limited to answering phones, mailings, letter writing, printing, copying, scheduling; and other clerical work
Assist admissions team in community outreach and attend recruitment events as requested
Assist with the coordination of event planning including open houses, parent information sessions, accepted student events, new family orientations, training events, etc.
Research and understand common diversity and inclusion initiatives, with an emphasis on independent schools
Work with our Admissions and Diversity Programs Coordinator to design and implement real world diversity and inclusion lesson plans and curriculum for a variety of audiences
Assist in the preparation of a toolkit for independent schools that will provide tips on how to best offer a diverse and inclusive environment, using information gleaned from research into best practices
Maintain a variety of organizational spreadsheets, cloud- based documents, and databases
May be asked to perform website updates, email campaigns design and production, banner ads, and graphic design production
Interns must have graduated from high school by June 2017 and be currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an undergraduate or graduate institution in Fall 2017
Interest in nonprofits, education, social work, public policy, management, admissions, youth development, social justice, diversity and inclusion work
Exceptional communication skills in writing, telephone, and in person
Must be very internet proficient, social media and online communications savvy
Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Docs
Highly organized and ability to think strategically and prioritize assignments
All interns must have reliable transportation and must bring their own laptop
Experience in design using Photoshop, Illustrator, Pages, and/or InDesign a plus
