This Webb Alumnus is Bringing Mini Vending Machines to Uber Rides

Jessica Rice '12
You might be able to purchase snacks or beauty products during your next Uber ride thanks to a new startup founded by Jeff Cripe ’08.

Less than two weeks after the launch of his company Cargo, CEO and Founder Cripe spoke to Fox Business Network on Mornings with Maria about what the service has to offer, and how it can help drivers for ride-sharing businesses like Uber make more money.

After a driver signs up at no cost, they receive a package stocked with items including candy, phone chargers, or even face masks, he told the network in July. Customers can order the products on their phone, and the driver will give them what they selected immediately.

"We try to make it really sort of fun, but also have really high utility items," Cripe told the network.

Cripe, who graduated from Yale University with a BA in Humanities, said Cargo aims to help drivers earn more, make for a better passenger experience, and will "serve as a new data-driven distribution channel for brands."
