After Daniel Crisostomo ’15 helped the University of California, Irvine men's soccer team post two shutouts last week, the junior midfielder was named Big West Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Monday.
His teammate Giovanni Godoy, who also received player of the week honors, scored game-winning goals as the Anteaters won two of three matches that week. Crisostomo helped with each of those goals, noted the university website.
Crisostomo "impacted both wins offensively as well, producing three assists total to take over the Big West lead with five," read a statement from the Big West Conference.
It is the first time he has received the honor.
During Crisostomo's senior year at The Webb Schools, he was named the San Joaquin League Male Athlete of the Year for his stellar performance on the soccer field. He helped lead the WSC team to a league championship and the CIF SoCal State Finals.
His team at UCI is slated to take on two Big West Conference teams this week.
