Science fiction author John Scalzi ’87 will return to campus for Alumni Weekend next week for a reading and Q & A focused on writing, publishing and his Webb experience.
Scalzi said he is "likely to read an exclusive bit" from an upcoming book at the event.
Scalzi, a New York Times bestselling author, works as a film critic, columnist, writer and editor, freelance writer and novelist. He is best known for his series of "Old Man's War" novels.
His novel "Redshirts: A Novel With Three Codas" won awards including the Hugo award for Best Novel in 2013, and the Locus Award for Best Science Fiction Novel. He has also received other accolades for his work including the Audie, the Seiun and the Kurd Lasswitz.
At Webb, Scalzi enjoyed theater and wrote for the Blue and Gold. He was editor his senior year.
Join Scalzi, students and other alumni in Ahmanson Theater next Friday for a short reading and Q & A. Lunch will be provided.
