VWS Volleyball
To start off the week, our last home game of the season was held in the gym on Monday, October 23. It definitely left a wonderful memory for the graduating seniors, defeating Connelly 3-1 with set scores of 25-22, 25-21, 18-25, and 25-15. Although this match was not the last of the season, it was an emotional, touching moment for not only our senior players, but also other team members fighting with them for the last time at home, as well as the coaches. The past four years being on the team has taught them how to fight as a team, the importance of courage and confidence, and to have resilience after hardships. On Tuesday, October 24, our team had a close loss against league rival Fairmont Prep, and was defeated by one game (2-3) with set scores: 22-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-18, and 16-14. Although the score did not favor us even with the great hits and defense, it is safe to say that the match was a bold, last endeavor of the season. —Ivy Liu '19

WSC Water Polo
As the season winds down, the Webb Gauls have been participating in their last few games of the season, starting off the week with a hard-fought game against Sage Hill. There was a strong volley between this team leading to a low scoring, but exciting game. The game resulted in a loss of 4-5 for the Webb Gauls, despite the great defense by all the players and goalie, Euson Hui '18. This game was also the last home game of the season where seniors were celebrated. The second and final game of the week was a league contest against Crean Lutheran. This game was a strong win for the Gauls, 17-4. Many of these goals were scored within the first quarter of the game setting this game up for success for the varsity Webb boys. Coach Howie Kalter was smart about distributing athletes throughout the game. Set player Will Donahue '18 had many set shots as well as great strong defense position moves, which led to Crean’s standstill because the center was blocked tightly by our team. Overall this week was an emotional but rewarding one for the Gauls. —Sonia Malik '18

  • The Week @ Webb - Together in January

    Scott Nichols
The Week @ Webb is a periodic photojournal of events on and off Webb's campus. Did it feel like January lasted 31,000 days instead of just 31? I know that for me, it's important to spend as much time as I can with other people when life gets really busy. We all do better when we surround ourselves with friends and family and that's what I tried to capture in this latest gallery.
