    On November 6, Dana (Zipser) Schallheim ’94 was elected to the Anne Arundel County Public Schools Board of Education, representing District 5 in Maryland. The historic election represented the county's transition to an entirely elected school board.

    We are pleased and excited to announce the appointment of Jennifer Liu '05 as Webb’s Director of Parent Relations and Special Events effective November 1. In this position, Liu will oversee our parent relations program, which serves more than 750 current parents worldwide and an active volunteer network through our Affiliates parent organization.

    Alumni Council President Doug Gregg ’66 is pleased to announce seven new members to the Alumni Council effective July 1, 2018. Jim Boyce ’75, Praveen Jeereddi ’90 and Bill Ripley ’60 are joining as Members-at-Large serving for a 3-year term. Ben Davis ’11, Gauri Gadgil ’06, Joanne Goh ’99 and Carly Paris ’10 are new members serving as Regional Representatives for a 3-year term. We also have three returning members, Kathy Fredrich '02, Jessica Dholakia '07 and Preston Clarke '98, who are serving in new positions.     In June, 25 alumni, museum trustees and staff embarked on an international peccary trip to Peru. The journey was a unique opportunity for Webb alumni and friends of all ages to experience Peru’s countryside, have the distinct pleasure to work with Peruvian paleontologists and experience a tour of the Nazca Lines by airplane.

  • Christina Duron '08 Recognized at VWS Commencement

    Christina Duron '08 is the recipient of the 2018 Jean E. Miller Excellence in Teaching Award.  Christina, who joined Webb's faculty in 2013, was recognized during the VWS commencement ceremony in June. In addition to teaching, she is getting her PhD at Claremont Graduate University.

  • New Trustee Elected: Julia Marciari-Alexander '85

    “I am excited to announce that Julia Marciari-Alexander ’85 has been elected to The Webb Schools Board of Trustees. A true pioneer and unbounded thinker, I look forward to Julia’s contributions to the important work of the board in the years ahead,” said Taylor Stockdale, Head of Schools.
     
    Marciari-Alexander ’85 is a graduate of Vivian Webb School, sister of WSC alumnus John ’78, and the daughter of former Webb trustee and Pomona College president, David Alexander.
    With more than 20 years of experience as a curator and museum leader, Marciari-Alexander ’85 currently serves as the executive director of the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland.

    Jean E. Miller In Memoriam

    We learned from Jinx Tong (VWS dean from 1991-1996, and director of residence from 1983-1991) that Jean E. Miller passed away on Tuesday, May 22 at the age of 90 years old.   
     
    Jean was born in Brockton, Massachusetts in 1928. She attended Pembroke College (the coordinate women’s college to Brown University) and graduated with an A.B. in English in 1949. She enjoyed a long and celebrated career as an educator in private schools across the country.

Once again, our students beat the odds. The members of this year’s graduating class are to be congratulated for admission into some of the most sought-after colleges and universities in the U.S. and abroad. We saw 100% of the Class of 2018 admitted to a selective four-year college or university—90% will be attending a college ranked in the top 10% in the nation.
