The Affiliates is the parent organization at Webb whose purpose is to further the interests of Webb and the Alf Museum. This vital organization promotes fellowship among members and assists the schools and museum as needed for special events, athletic and arts programs as well as many other programs. For information on becoming an active member with the Affiliates, or for any other parent questions or information needs, please contact the Parent Relations Office at email@example.com or (909) 482-5245.
Gina is serving her second year on the Affiliates Executive Committee. She is a proud parent of Nick Lee ’22. She believes that a Webb education is the best because it centers around student enrichment and community growth. She is most excited to see returning and new students developing profound friendships, mentorships and life-long memories.
Janel is a member of the VWS Class of 1987. She and her husband, Glen, have two students at Webb: David ’22 and Elizabeth ’25. Janel is a past president of the Alumni Council and recently completed her second term on The Webb Schools Board of Trustees.
Janel and her family remain inspired by Webb and all that it brings to the community: a world-class education, experiential learning in the classroom and beyond, lessons in honor and moral courage, and, of course, demonstrating how to serve with a generous spirit.
Esther and Michael Chai are the proud parents of Stephen ’17, Benjamin ’19, Mikey ’22 and Elizabeth ’23. Esther has enjoyed serving while attending Webb basketball, wrestling, volleyball and dance team events. Stephen attended Webb’s summer program in seventh grade, meeting Mr. Caldwell – and launching the family’s passion for Webb.
Esther believes it takes a village to raise a child. Webb has been that “village” where the Chai children are being raised. The most valuable experience for her children has been building friendships that will last a lifetime. Also, the students at Webb challenge each other to be their very best in all facets of life.
The Chais are also excited about the engagement with Webb staff and parents over the years. The meaningful interactions have had a lasting effect on their lives.
Michelle learned about Webb when a representative spoke to her son’s eighth-grade class. She and her husband have five children – all of them Webb students or alumni – Michael ’14, Matthew ’16, Nathan ’19, Allison ’22 and Andrew ’25. Michelle has been volunteering throughout her years at Webb in different capacities, including as a class representative, as a team mom for various sports and just filling in where needed.
Michelle appreciates the untiring commitment of the faculty and staff at Webb. She believes they have provided a wonderful learning and bonding environment for her kids. Most importantly, she and her family have made lifelong friends in the Webb community.
Seon was born in Seoul, Korea and moved to Philadelphia when she was in high school. She worked as a nurse in hospitals in Philadelphia, Chicago and Rancho Cucamonga before she decided to focus on her son’s education.
Seon discovered Webb when her son, Jeffrey ’23, a dinosaur afficionado, said in second grade that he wanted to go to Webb. Seon loves Webb because the moms are so warm-hearted and genuinely interested in their children’s education.
Seon first joined the Affiliates to help her friends, but then became genuinely interested in creating a memorable experience for the students at Webb. She is the class representative for Class 2023.
She feels that through volunteering with the Affiliates, she helps students have a physically and mentally rewarding time at Webb. Seeing the joy and happiness in the students’ faces at the birthday parties is her favorite memory.
The Metz family found Webb several years ago after hearing about its amazing reputation, both as an academic institution and its community outreach. Linda has four children, including two daughters in the Vivian Webb School Classes of 2022 and 2025. Linda joined the Affiliates to give back to the community we love. One of her favorite Webb memories was her first revisit day with her oldest daughter. The excitement was palpable and the inclusivity made her family feel like they were “home.” Linda has enjoyed all that Webb offers; a tight-knit, collaborative community in the beautiful Claremont hills. Go Gauls!
Barry and his wife, Jennifer, own and operate residential facilities serving adults with disabilities in California. They joined the Webb community in 2019 through their son, Bryan Oglesby ’23. This is his first year serving on The Affiliates board as a co-second vice president with Jennifer. He is extremely impressed with Webb’s academic rigor, faculty, community and seemingly unlimited opportunities.
His most memorable experience at Webb was sitting in on a Humanities class with Bryan watching him participate in a robust discussion on a complex issue. He learned that day that Webb was preparing students to become leaders.

Summer discovered Webb through her dear friend, Wendy Maschler. The two planned an outing to see the Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology. Summer’s family immediately fell in love with the Webb campus. Summer and her husband, Matt, are native Californians. They live just two minutes from campus. What Summer loves most about Webb is that it’s cool to be smart! She also loves the diverse community. Summer joined the Affiliates because she strongly believes it takes a village to raise good kids. In addition, she wanted to show the importance of community involvement to her daughters, Taren ’22 and Lauren ’25. Summer’s favorite Webb memory is packing cookies with current and alumni parents for Webb graduates at college.
Wendy and her husband, Joe, are from Rancho Cucamonga and have two boys, Johnathon ’21 and Matthew ’24. Wendy first discovered Webb through the Alf Museum when the boys were very young. Wendy’s family has been to the museum countless times. They are continuously impressed with the student interactions. Wendy loves the beautiful Webb campus and community and wanted her boys to attend Webb so they could develop their independence, intellect, honor and integrity. Wendy joined the Affiliates board last year because she admired the work they do on campus and behind the scenes to help make Webb great!
Jenny is a Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology trustee. Her daughters, Elisa ’15 and Isabella ’18, are alumni and her son, Xander ’22, currently attends. She has previously served on the Affiliates Executive Board as president and third vice president. She has also served as the liaison of the Alf Museum of Paleontology, a position she continues to fill. Jenny is grateful for Webb’s museum program, and her interest lies in furthering the Alf Museum’s enduring legacy as an institution that supports intellectual curiosity in the classroom and in the field.
Devanie is the proud parent of Kate ’24, and an alumnus Patrick ’21. As an educator, Devanie is keenly aware of how Webb stands out among its peers: the academic rigor, quality instruction and focus on honor and character development are truly unmatched. In 2021-22, Devanie is excited to support and develop the community of BIPOC families at Webb, and to extend a warm welcome to all our new families.
Sonia and her husband, Jose, have one student at Webb: Alfonso ’23.
Sonia and her family love the sense of community of Webb, as well as the values and academic performance that encourages you to be your best.
Haissam’s home is one mile from Webb. He has many friends and clients with children who attended or are attending The Webb Schools. All these Webb graduates finished college and are very successful professionally. The students and their families speak very highly of Webb.
Haissam is the parent of Richard ’22 and Giselle ’20, who now attends LAMU.
Haissam loves Webb’s learning environment, especially the care the students get from staff and faculty, the superb level of education, and the preparation that goes into graduating strong, honorable leaders with a caring spirit.
Melissa and her husband, Jon, had their eyes set on Webb far before their son Jonathan ’20 and daughter Sydney ’24 were born. As an educator, Melissa’s standards and expectations were high and Webb checked all the boxes, and then some. Outstanding community values, the unbounded thinking focus, multiple leadership opportunities, the world-renowned Alf Museum and a great college guidance team are just a few key features of a Webb education, and that’s exactly what she and her husband wanted.
Melissa has taken on many roles at Webb, such as parent class representative, Affiliates third vice president, team mom and, most recently, president of the Affiliates. Melissa loves getting involved in the parent community. Melissa’s friends call her “The Bridger,” because she loves to connect old friends and new friends so that everyone feels like they are a part of something special. Her goal this year is to keep those connections alive as we transition back to in-person events.
Melissa is proud to be a part of this year’s Executive Board, especially as we launch Webb’s Centennial campaign. She will forever be grateful for every fellow board member for their support, love and guidance as we grow and learn to navigate the waters of being a fabulous Webb parent!
