  • Marketo IPO Opens NASDAQ: Sanjay Dholakia '87

    Webb alumnus, trustee, and Chief Marketing Officer of Marketo--Sanjay Dholakia '87--was in New York today to open NASDAQ as the company's IPO hit the board. Marketo (MKTO), headquartered in San Mateo, is a leading marketing automation software developer. It is believed that the company will raise some $79 million through the IPO, giving the company a market cap of over $500 million on its first day of trading. The share price was set to open between $11 and $13 a share.

  • USC Wins $70 Million Gift for New Arts & Technology Academy

    Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine have donated $70 million to USC to support a new arts and technology academy. The four-year undergraduate program, accepting students in the fall of 2014, will connect students to art and technology, engineering, design, business and more through classroom and workshop instruction.     In 2013 the competition for admission to top-tier colleges and universities was once again fierce. The final college decisions arrived mind the shocking statistics of the ever competitiveness of selective college admissions. Harvard’s admit rate was 5.8% with a record 35,023 applicants. Yale and Columbia were not far behind with a 6.7% at Yale and a 6.8% at Columbia. Even top liberal arts colleges have numbers that are just as startling.

  • Top of the Podium for Lantz at SoCon Championship

    Davidson junior Andrew Lantz '10 topped the podium twice on April 21, winning the 800m and 1500m events at the 2013 SoCon Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Georgia. He becomes Davidson's first ever two-time 800m run champion and the fourth 1500m run champion.

  • Golf Wins 1st Ever League Championship!

    **UPDATE** For the first time in current Webb history, the varsity golf team has won the Prep League Championship. Capitalizing on strong all-around play from the entire team, the Webb Gauls outshot both Pasadena Poly and Buckley High in a three-way playoff on Monday afternoon at Pacific Palms Country Club. The first round of CIF tournament play begins Monday, May 6.

    **UPDATE** The Gaulbots finished 27th out of 64 teams in their division at the FTC World Championships in St. Louis, MO. Webb's record of four wins, three losses, and one tie amongst the top 5% of the 2,800 robotics teams in the world is a tremendous accomplishment for the program.

  • Robotics @ the FTC World Championships

    The Webb Schools’ robotics team begins competition today in the FTC World Championships in St. Louis. Alumni, parents and friends can watch Webb compete by livestream. Approximate broadcast times are: Thursday, April 25, are 11:05 am; 1:45 pm; 2:34 pm; 3:24 pm; and Friday, April 26 at 9:56 am and 12:11 pm. Webb is team #358 and will appear on FTC1.

    The Webb community – hosted by alumni – gathered on opposite coasts this spring to visit with Head of Schools Taylor Stockdale, fellow Webbies and to hear the latest news from campus. Trustee David Loo ’79 and his wife Valerie welcomed alumni, families and friends into their Gramercy Park home and Matt Barton ’85 hosted the community at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco.
