Board of Trustees

Sanjay Dholakia ’87 has strong family ties to Webb. His brother, Sameer Dholakia ’91, his wife, Melissa Barnes-Dholakia ’87, and his daughter, Maya ’21, are all alumni. Sanjay has “a keen sensitivity for what education can do.” He served on The Board of Trustees of Lighthouse Community Charter School in Oakland, and he and his family endowed Webb’s Pravina Dholakia Scholarship Fund. Sanjay received his BS in economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and his MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. From 2008 to 2010, he served as chief marketing officer for Lithium Technologies and was most recently the chief marketing officer for Marketo. As a trustee, Sanjay hopes to use his marketing and strategic planning expertise to “help Webb become an institution that endures and thrives for centuries.”

Larry Ashton ’70 is an active and notable alumnus of the Class of 1970. An avid Peccary Man and great enthusiast of Ray Alf, Larry first met Ray when his summer peccary trip groups would shop at the Ashton store in Vernal, Utah. These meetings led the Ashtons to send their two boys, Larry ’70 and Michael ’67, to Webb. Larry joined the Alf Museum board in 1999 and was elected chairman in 2002. As chairman, there is never a moment when Larry is not promoting the museum. He has shepherded the Alf Museum through national re-accreditation, major exhibit hall renovations, and capital campaigns. He is also a member of the Webb Board of Trustees.

After graduating from Webb, Larry received his B.A. and MBA from the University of Utah. He is manager of Ashton Family, LLC in Salt Lake City, Utah. He and his wife, Alicia, are stalwart supporters of the museum and the schools and work tirelessly on behalf of both.

Michael Chang ’92 lives in San Francisco with his family and is the CEO of YesVideo head-quartered in Santa Clara, California. He became CEO and joined the board of YesVideo following the successful acquisition of Greystripe, the company he co-founded and grew into one of the world’s largest mobile advertising networks. Chang received his bachelor’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University and his MBA from Duke University. In 2012, he established the Michael Chang ’92 Scholarship Fund at Webb.

YesVideo is the global leader in personal home video transfer and online video sharing. It digitizes video formats such VHS, Beta and 8mm film and stores its customer’s treasured memories in the cloud for access online, through mobile and connected TV. To date YesVideo has transferred over 10M videos.

A passionate advocate for education, Deval Dvivedi ’00 lives in New York City with his wife, Snigdha, and is Head of International for Eagle Proprietary Investments Ltd. At Eagle, he focuses on new investments, strategic partnerships and manages Eagle’s international investments portfolio. Deval is a board member in the following companies: ContractPodAi, Resolute Bio, Ironwood Legal, Asset Vantage and Robin.

Deval came to Webb as a junior from Bahrain. While the adjustment was great, it was also swift. He was a good student, excelled in economics and was the number-one seed on the tennis team.

“I credit Webb with giving me a strong foundation. Webb helped me be successful in college, my career, and in my life. I am honored to serve on the board and look forward to beginning the work this spring,” Deval said.

After Webb, Deval received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Boston College. He spent a year at the London School of Economics studying finance in the General Course program.

Prior to his work at Eagle, Deval was at DLB Capital (private equity firm), where he was a vice president and the firm’s leader in investments, portfolio company management and investor relationships. While at DLB, he sat on the Board of Western United Life Assurance, serving on the Audit, Investment and Nominating Committees. Before DLB Capital, Deval was at FirstLight Financial (hedge fund), where he was a senior associate in the Bank Loans & Trading group responsible for underwriting and managing non-investment grade debt investments across the capital structure for U.S. borrowers. Deval began his career in investment banking at Citigroup. He was a member of the Asset Finance Group, working on asset based and principal finance transactions.

Jenna Gambaro ’95 is one of Vivian Webb School’s most committed and passionate alumnae. In 2010, she was elected to Webb’s Board of Trustees. She has been a class agent every year since graduation and served as reunion chair for her 10-, and 15-year reunions. Jenna earned her B.S. in business and marketing from Portland State University and her juris doctorate from Southwestern School of Law. Since 2004, she has been a business affairs executive in the Motion Picture Talent and Literary Department of Hollywood’s Creative Artists Agency. She is also a member of the Board of Trustees of The Point Foundation.

Wendy Hornbuckle immigrated from Great Britain and is a 40-year resident of Las Vegas. She attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, majoring in athletic training and ultimately pursued a two-decade career in the hospitality industry. Wendy served 10 years at Caesars Palace as hotel manager overseeing daily operations and then was on the Bellagio opening team in sales management. She has held a Nevada real estate license since 2005.

Over the past 15 years, she has been an highly active philanthropist and community leader in Southern Nevada. Wendy is a founding member of Nevada Women in Philanthropy Organization where she sits on the Executive Committee and has served as chair of several operating committees and is currently chair of Grant Monitoring. Wendy was also instrumental in passing Nevada’s most recent legislation on gun control impacting proper background checks for a safe Nevada.

She remains active in several other charities and organizations helping U.S. vets, autism awareness, hunger, hospice care, JDRF, CIS, Hero’s United and the arts community in Park City, Utah.

In November 2016, Wendy and her husband, Bill, made a leadership gift to Webb establishing the Wendy and William Hornbuckle Family Endowment Scholarship Fund, targeting students of the Las Vegas valley in hopes that they could attend Webb. Their son, Kristopher, is a graduate of the Class of 2019.

William (Bill) J. Hornbuckle is chief executive officer and president of MGM Resorts International, a global entertainment company with iconic hotels, casino, meeting and conference spaces, live and theatrical entertainment experiences and an array of restaurant, nightlife and retail offerings.

Bill oversees all aspects of MGM Resorts’ strategy, operations and hospitality, and gaming development projects, including development efforts in Asia and sports betting strategy.

Bill is a member of MGM Resorts’ Board of Directors and serves as chairman of the Board of Directors of MGM China Holdings, which operates resorts in Macau.

Bill earned a Bachelor of Science in hotel administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and is active in community service in Southern Nevada. He serves on the Board of Trustees for Three Square Food Bank. He is the founder of the Bank of George, a local banking and financial services institution, and is president of the Fulfillment Fund.

Bill and his wife, Wendy, live in Henderson, Nevada and Park City, Utah.

In November 2016, the couple made a leadership gift establishing the Wendy and William Hornbuckle Family Endowment Scholarship Fund to assist students in the Las Vegas Valley who wish to attend The Webb Schools. Their son, Kristopher, is a graduate of the Class of 2019.

Jennifer Y. Ishiguro ’91 serves as partner, chief legal officer & corporate secretary of StepStone Group Inc., a global private markets firm that provides customized investment and advisory solutions in private equity, infrastructure, private debt and real estate to some of the most sophisticated investors in the world. Prior to joining StepStone, Jennifer served in legal leadership roles at AutoGravity Corp., a Daimler and Volkswagen-owned fintech; Gateway One Lending & Finance, LLC, the auto finance subsidiary of TCF Financial Corp. (NYSE: TCF); and Toyota Financial Services.

Jennifer also practiced for eight years in the fields of securities law and capital markets at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, spending time in the firm’s New York, Tokyo and Washington, D.C. offices.  She is passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion, serving on the D&I Committee of her current company and promoting DEI in the legal profession.

Jennifer graduated cum laude from both Harvard Law School and Yale College. Before attending law school, she served as speechwriter to United Nations Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali and studied international trade law in Japan on a Fulbright fellowship. She lives in Southern California with her husband and daughter. Among her favorite memories of Webb are participating in various theatrical productions and having heated debates with her day student best friend seated atop the machines in the laundry room past visiting hours, challenging religion, existential existence and the like.

Naveen Jeereddi ’92 is founder and CEO of Jeereddi Partners L.L.C., an event-oriented, value investment firm. He has over two decades of value-oriented experience financing, analyzing, and investing in public and private companies. Naveen has served in value investment roles at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ), Onex Corporation, The Baupost Group L.L.C., and Tala Investments LP. He currently serves on the boards of directors of Chandler Global PTE. Ltd, iDream Media Inc., and XPRS Capital LLC. He earned an MBA with distinction from the Harvard Business School and a BBA with high distinction from the University of Michigan. His older sister, Dr. Praveena Jeereddi ’90, is a graduate of Vivian Webb School. Naveen lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Amy, and their four children.

“I’m so very excited and privileged to be serving on this board, with such intelligent, caring, talented people who all come together with one goal in mind–to foster a secure yet invigorating environment for these spectacular students to grow and become future leaders in the world. Webb was truly such a wonderful environment for me to grow up in, and I hope I can give back all it has given me.” Sandra Lee Rebish ’88, M.D., is a board certified dermatologist practicing in Upland, California with her husband and fellow dermatologist, Jeffrey Rebish, M.D. Her sons attend WSC, Chance ’23 and Stratton ’24.

Along with raising two boys, and running a private practice, she has also more recently become a social media and television personality. With well over 10 million followers on social media platforms, and over 3 billion views on her YouTube channel, she now has a successful and growing skin care line SLMD Skin Care, a book, and a highly rated television series on TLC called Dr. Pimple Popper.

Julia Marciari-Alexander ’85 is a graduate of Vivian Webb School, sister of WSC alumnus John ’78, and the daughter of former Webb trustee and Pomona College president, David Alexander. With more than 20 years of experience as a curator and museum leader, Marciari-Alexander ’85 serves as the executive director of the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland. Prior to joining Walters, she was deputy director for curatorial affairs at the San Diego Museum of Art, interim co-director and interim deputy director for education. Before moving to San Diego, she spent more than 10 years at the Yale Center for British Art, first as assistant/associate curator of paintings & sculpture, then as associate director of programmatic affairs and associate director of exhibitions and publications. During her tenure at the Yale Center for British Art, she also taught numerous courses for the university’s history of art department. Marciari-Alexander earned her B.A. in art history and French at Wellesley College; her M.A. in French at NYU; and her M.A. and Ph.D. in the history of art at Yale University. She and her husband, John Marciari, have teenage twins, Beatrice “Bede” and Jack.

“It is a particular honor for me to join the trustees of The Webb Schools as WSC and VWS in their many forms have been integral to my life for more than 40 years. As a trustee, I am excited to join my fellow Board members and the incredible staff, faculty, and students in working tirelessly to ensure that every Webb student has access to extraordinary experiences that will shape not only their lives but our collective future.”

Rahmi Mowjood ‘90 most recently served as president of the Alumni Council of The Webb Schools. He lives in Alta Loma, California with his family and is CEO of Cucamonga Valley Medical Group, which has offices in Upland, North and Central Fontana, Eastvale, Chino and Rancho Cucamonga.

After attending Webb, Dr. Mowjood graduated from Claremont McKenna College with a dual degree in pre-medical sciences and theater. After spending a year studying classical acting at the London Academy of Performing Arts on a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship, he attended Western University Health Sciences and completed his medical training at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. In the wake of the tsunami in Southeast Asia, he traveled back to his native Sri Lanka to help treat those affected by the devastation.

As an undergraduate at UC Irvine, Mickey Novak ’70 considered several careers, including law and the Peace Corps. His professional future was shaped by a fortuitous meeting with a friend’s father, the owner of Croton Watches. While Novak was still a student at UC Irvine’s Graduate School of Management, Croton hired him to evaluate and help improve their business and then to oversee the company’s relationship with Hughes Aircraft, then the leading supplier of digital watches.

Mickey’s work with Croton awakened his entrepreneurial spirit. After completing his M.S. in management, he decided to found his own digital watch company, Innovative Time Corporation. By the 1990s, the company was selling 3 million to 5 million licensed children’s and sports watches a year to retail giants like Walmart and Target. Mickey sold the company in 1999, but in 2001, he and one of his former executives started a new business, NAFECS (North American Far East Commercial Services) Corporation, sourcing Chinese factories for manufacturers and developing electronics and seasonal goods for major retailers. NAFECS now has about 50 employees, with offices in Hong Kong and Shenzen, China.

Mickey and his family live in Montezuma, Costa Rica, but he has remained a passionate advocate of Webb over the decades, organizing class reunions, serving on Webb’s Board of Governors and chairing the highly successful Fulfilling Our Promise Campaign. Novak credits Webb with giving him the tools to succeed in school and business.

“At Webb,” he said, “you learn to develop all your skills. … It shaped me, brought out talents in me, and that’s essentially what led to my becoming an entrepreneur.”

Mickey’s son, Caleb, is a member of the Class of 2022.

Melvin L. Oliver, Ph.D. GP’23 has a long career in education and public policy. After completing his Ph.D. at Washington University, St. Louis he became an assistant professor in UCLA’s Department of Sociology and a faculty associate in the Center for Afro-American Studies. An award-winning teacher and researcher, in 1996, Oliver left the academy to more directly impact social policy and became the vice president of the Asset Building and Community Development Program at the Ford Foundation. Under Oliver’s direction, the program developed pioneering grant initiatives to address poverty and racial inequality. In 2004, he returned to academia, serving as dean of social sciences and executive dean of the College of Letters and Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In 2016, he was named the sixth president of Pitzer College. This is Oliver’s first term on the board and “his first involvement with a private boarding school.” He is “keen to learn and contribute to this resource rich and challenging type of education.”

Ming “Andrew” Pan P ’25 is a senior vice president at East West Bank, a full-service commercial bank serving consumers and businesses throughout the U.S. and Greater China. His major responsibilities involve developing and implementing China strategies, inbound and outbound China business development and coordinating Greater China operations.

He holds a Master of Economics degree in international finance from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and a bachelor’s degree from Beijing Institute of International Relations. Pan also attended the executive program at Pepperdine Graziadio Business School. His son, Andy, is a member of Webb’s Class of 2025.

Chief Financial Officer & Asst. Secretary 

Janet holds a Bachelor of Arts in management from Saint Mary’s College and an MBA from the University of California, Davis with a dual emphasis in finance and accounting. Before coming to Webb in 1999, she served for 13 years at Sacramento Country Day School in a number of positions, including business manager, director of finance and operations and assistant head for finance and operations. At Webb, she directs the schools’ and museum’s financial planning, accounting and human resources practices, investment management, operations, technology, campus master planning and oversees the implementation of capital projects. Janet served for six years on the board of NBOA, as trustee, officer and chair of both the program and governance committees and six years as trustee for the Cal-ISBOA.

As the former CEO and current co-chair of the Monrovia Nursery Company’s Board of Directors, Miles Rosedale appreciates the role of plants in our world. Founded in 1926, the nursery has grown into an internationally respected company that has introduced many improved varieties of plants and maintains growing grounds in the four corners of the United States. Miles holds a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and a juris doctorate from the University of Southern California.

Miles has described Webb as a “significant part of my life.” Miles has served in almost every capacity on campus: he was a member of the Board of Trustees for 30 years, from 1985 to 2005; and again, from 2007 to 2018, and has recently returned to Webb’s Board.

From 1993 to 2000, Miles was chairman of the board, seeing the schools through the Building Character Campaign, which, at the time, raised the most money ever for Webb – $21 million, surpassing the schools’ original goal by $3 million. He was also a generous supporter of the Fulfilling Our Promise Campaign that followed. In addition, he has served as director of the Alumni Association and as a member of the Board of Governors. His son, John Lovin, graduated from Webb in 1992.

Theresa Smith

Theresa Smith, Ph.D. holds a Bachelor of Arts in history with a minor in Spanish from UC Berkeley, a Master of Arts in history from UC San Diego and a Ph.D. in history from UC San Diego with focuses in early modern European history, modern European history and colonial Latin American history. She is the author of The Emerging Female Citizen: Gender & Enlightenment in Spain, published by UC Press in 2006.

Dr. Smith started her career as a visiting assistant professor at Claremont McKenna College before joining Oakwood School in North Hollywood as social studies department chair in 2002. She rose to Director of Winter Immersion Programs before she was hired at Webb as Director of Academic Affairs in 2011. She became Assistant Head of Schools in 2017 and Associate Head of Schools in 2020.

Wendin D. Smith ’89 serves as a senior official at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.

Her career includes roles in the public and private sectors, including most recently as managing director with Deloitte Consulting, senior advisor to the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), and a former deputy assistant secretary of defense for countering weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

A graduate of Dartmouth College, she received her Ph.D. and M.A. in law and diplomacy from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. Wendin is a consultant and lecturer in countering WMD, national security, strategic stability, Russian, environmental security and related fields.

In her personal time, she enjoys spending time with her family and daughter (Class of 2033?!), contributing to her community, as well as athletic endeavors such as rowing, Nordic skiing, and just about anything in or on the water.

“I am honored to serve the Webb community and to focus on ensuring that the schools continue to develop a cadre of individuals with the skills to think boldly, mindfully and creatively, and to set forth on diverse paths of distinction. It is a privilege to serve the faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, and broader community. I can imagine no more critical role than to support and nurture our future leaders.”

Jordan Taylor is a partner at Taylor Ali Capital, an alternative asset class hedge fund, and shareholder at Kwontified, an eCommerce management firm. He received his B.A. from Cornell University and juris doctorate from the University of Notre Dame. Having served the Webb Community for well over a decade, Jordan is the vice president of the Alumni Council and has previously served as both a reunion chair and Sophomore Career Evening speaker. While a boarder, Jordan was a Rogers Scholar, co-captain of the track team and member of the football and basketball teams.

Lance Williams’ ’97 has over 20 years of strategic marketing, communications and philanthropic experience. After earning his degree from New York University, he was part of the team that launched the hit musical MAMMA MIA! in North America. From 2006 to 2014, Lance was the executive director of brand development at Condé Nast Traveler magazine, responsible for promoting the brand internationally through events, conferences and charity partnerships. Since 2002, Lance has served on the Board of Directors of the Fred B. Snite Foundation as a vice president. In 2012, Lance co-founded The LanMar Fund, a charitable fund that supports awareness, research and action in the field of wildlife conservation, and he is the senior communications advisor for The Lion Recovery Fund. Lance also served on the Board of Trustees of the Raymond M. Alf Museum for nine years.

“It is a great honor to serve on the Webb board during such a dynamic time in our schools’ history. I’ve been deeply impressed, in particular, at the unwavering Webb spirit throughout the pandemic: our entire community, though physically apart, came together to innovate, setting the foundation for an even stronger next 100 years,” Lance said. “My personal goal is to commit to continue supporting Webb’s vital efforts in the areas of diversity and sustainability.”

Lance and his husband live in New York City and Los Angeles.

Senior Administration

John Choi

John joined Webb in 2018 as a member of the science faculty. He also dedicated himself to providing students with opportunities to engage with topics involving identity, equity and justice.

That commitment was recognized with his appointment in September 2020 to the role of Coordinator of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and in spring 2021 to the post of Director of Equity.

John holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois and a Master of Science in Education from Northwestern University.

John is the parent of two Webb students.

Dr. Jamila Everett

Dr. Jamila Everett joined the Webb Admission Office after 17 years in admission leadership roles at Pitzer College, the California Institute of Technology and the University of Southern California. She earned her bachelor’s degree in communication and master’s degree in communication management from USC’s Annenberg School of Communication. Jamila earned her doctorate in education at UCLA. Her program focused on research and leadership principles to improve practices throughout the K-16 educational continuum.

Jamila’s dissertation: “Recruiting Women to Engineering Programs: College Admission Leaders’ Perceptions of Promising Practices and Strategies,” has served as a model for best practices for STEM recruitment initiatives. She lives on campus and enjoys being part of an engaged community.

Andrew Farke holds a doctorate in anatomical sciences from Stony Brook University and a Bachelor of Science in geology from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He joined the Alf Museum in 2008 as Augustyn Family Curator, becoming director of research and collections in 2015 and museum director in 2021.

He is the museum’s fourth director.

His research interests focus on the evolution and paleobiology of the horned dinosaurs, dinosaurs of western North America, and the vertebrate paleontology of Madagascar.
Raised on a farm in the fossil-rich plains of South Dakota, Farke became intrigued with fossils in his youth and credits middle school and high school teachers for fanning the flame of his scientific curiosity.

His research interests focus on the evolution and paleobiology of ceratopsians – horned beasts such as Triceratops and Torosaurus. He also works on dinosaurs of western North America and the vertebrate paleontology of Madagascar.

In addition to leading the museum, Andy teaches introductory and advanced courses on paleontology, leads Peccary Trips and guides student research.

Bob Fass

Bob Fass, a lifelong resident of Claremont, holds a Bachelor of Arts in theatre arts from Cal State Fullerton and a master’s degree in nonprofit administration from the University of Alabama.

As Webb’s chief advancement officer, Bob oversees Webb’s advancement and fundraising programs, including Webb’s centennial campaign – The Next 100 – as well as The Webb Fund, Leadership and Planned Giving, and outreach programs, including Alumni Relations and Parent Programs. In addition, Webb’s Advancement Office works hand in hand with the Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology.

Bob worked previously as an executive director of Shakespeare festivals in Fort Worth, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia and was the founding director of a Master of Fine Arts training program in arts administration at Southern Utah University in conjunction with the Utah Shakespeare Festival.

Bob lives in Claremont with his wife, Kristen, and their two children, Riley ’23 and Ryan. In November 2020, he was elected to serve a four-year term as a governing board member of the Claremont Unified School District.

He previously served for three years as board president of the Claremont Educational Foundation and is a current board member of Claremont After-School Programs, Inc. He has also represented Webb as a member of the Claremont Chamber of Commerce and as a board member of the Los Angeles Council of Charitable Gift Planners.

Hector earned his master’s degree in education from the Claremont Graduate University and his bachelor’s degree from Pitzer College. This is his 25th year at The Webb Schools, with 35 years of professional experience in the field of education and college admissions. Prior to his time at The Webb Schools he was the college counselor and taught at The Buckley School in Los Angeles.

He also served as a senior admissions officer for The Claremont Colleges for eight years. Hector is an active member of several national professional organizations, including serving as co-chairman of the National College Board Forum. He is also a founding member of the board of trustees for ACCIS (Association of College Counselors in Independent Schools) and has served as an executive member of the Guidance and Admissions Council for The College Board and NACAC.

Considered one of America’s most respected and knowledgeable college counselors, Hector is frequently featured and quoted in such publications as the Los Angeles TimesNew York TimesNewsweekU.S. News and World Report, and The Wall Street Journal where he was selected as one of the top 40 college counselors in the U.S.

Hector was most recently appointed to serve on The Common App Advisory Council, where he gives input on ways to continue to improve its services and purpose. The Common App Council is made up of 15 college counselors from around the world.

Janet Peddy

Janet holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in management from Saint Mary’s College and a Master’s of Business Administration from University of California, Davis with a dual emphasis in finance and accounting.  Before coming to Webb in 1999, she served for 13 years at Sacramento Country Day School in a number of positions including business manager, director of finance and operations, and assistant head for finance and operations. Michael Hoe graduated from Webb in 2004 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in neuroscience from Brown University and a Master of Education from Harvard University. An educator for over 15 years, he previously served as Webb’s director of studies and in multiple roles at Noble and Greenough School in Massachusetts.

Mr. Hoe returned to Webb in 2019. In addition to his administrative duties, he teaches in Webb’s Science Department and has held secondary roles in residential life and the student advising program. He is a fellow in the National Association of Independent Schools’ prestigious Aspiring School Heads Program.

As the assistant head of school, he oversees the educational life of Webb students, ensuring Webb’s academic, residential and co-curricular programs work together to achieve our mission.
