Meet Our Team
Dr. Jamila Everett has been the Director of Admission and Financial Aid at The Webb Schools in Claremont, California since 2016. Jamila came to the Webb Schools after two decades in admission leadership roles at Pitzer College, the California Institute of Technology and the University of Southern California. Dr. Everett earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Master’s degree in Communication Management from USC’s Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism. She earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from UCLA. Her scholarship focused on research and leadership principles to improve practices throughout the K-16 educational continuum. Jamila’s research entitled “Recruiting Women to Engineering Programs: College Admission Leaders’ Perceptions of Promising Practices and Strategies,” has served as a model for best practices for STEM recruitment initiatives nationally. Dr. Everett leads the Admission office in developing practices for recruitment, application review, and financial aid.
Jeff joined the Webb community in 2009. In addition to serving on the Admission and Financial Aid Committees, Jeff heads up the baseball program and has been a freshman and sophomore advisor as well a member of the weekend activities team. Prior to Webb, Jeff was in the financial industry following his professional playing career with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Jeff earned his Bachelor of Arts in Exercise/Sports Science and Master of Arts in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University, Irvine, where he also served as Assistant Baseball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. In his free time, Jeff enjoys lake trips with his family and friends, golfing, and is an avid Los Angeles Kings fan.
Sarah comes to Webb from the world of college admissions, where she recruited international and out-of-state students. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Religion from St. Olaf College and a Master of Arts in English from California State Polytechnic University Pomona. Prior to this, Sarah attended a boarding school in England where she remembers with fondness the dichotomy of strict guidelines and playful pranks. With one brother belonging to the Webb School of California, Class of 2006, and the other brother being married in the Vivian Webb Chapel in 2005, now Sarah’s favorite place on campus due to its serenity, Sarah feels at home at Webb and is happy to return to a boarding community. She believes in the healthy relationship between hard work and fun. Sarah finds personal significance in the Honor Code at Webb, her life motto being that sometimes you have to do the things you don’t want to do, in order to become the person that you want to become.
Owen joined the Webb community in 2019, after working in college admissions for 14 years. The son of a Pomona College faculty member, Owen grew up on Claremont college campuses before going off to college in Texas (he still misses the barbecue) and earning a B.A. in English from Trinity University where he also minored in Medieval and Renaissance Studies. His many adventures include studying in northern Spain, nurturing his love of badminton, and working as an auctioneer (yeah, he can talk that fast!). When he’s not at Webb, you can find the die-hard Angels fan (and three-time Claremont Little League All-Star) exploring Los Angeles on foot, binge-watching documentaries and TED talks, cheering on local minor league sports teams, and spending time with his wife (a fourth-grade teacher), dog (a sweetheart) and cat (who’s plotting to take over the world).
Amy joined Webb in 2009 as the Executive Assistant to the Office of Admission. She has a sincere passion for helping families navigate and complete the application process and is able to provide a depth of understanding as she coordinates many aspects of the online application. Amy is often the first connection for families when they contact the admission office. As the parent to two Webb graduates, Amy understands the process from the parents’ perspective. She can appreciate all the energy that goes into applying to Webb and hopes to make families feel at ease during the process. Amy enjoys sharing the experiences her children have had at Webb and helping parents see the possibilities for their own child.
Alex joined the Webb Admission Office in 2019. Prior to Webb, Alex worked for Fox Studios making sure everyone’s favorite TV shows made it to air on the FX networks and the National Geographic networks (just to name a few). Alex earned her B.A. in Television Broadcasting, with a minor in Spanish, from the University of La Verne. In her spare time, Alex enjoys going to the movies, spending time with her family, and surviving escape rooms with her friends. Alex resonates with Webb’s Mission Statement, as it reminds her of the values instilled in her during her time in high school.
