Webb Canyon Chronicle Completes Redesign

Webb Canyon Chronicle recently launched itself as a beautifully redesigned, user-friendly online publication. Its debut edition is a fun, memories-packed tribute to the Class of 2023.

In addition to blurbs and snapshots of graduating seniors, this special issue includes interviews with the class valedictorians and salutatorians, a class playlist, a college map and more.

The five-month website redesign project was headed by Editor of Features Emily Li ‘24, Chief Editor of Media, Noe Chock ‘23, and Co-Editor of News Eleanor Hong ‘24.

Emily, an aspiring UI/UX designer, recognized the old website’s main shortcomings: it was “cluttered, outdated, unaesthetic, and messy.” She and Noe decided their new design needed to be easier to navigate and less distracting.

“Throughout my experience redesigning and rebuilding the website,” shared Emily, “I have discovered that excellence in content and user experience go hand-in-hand to achieve impactful storytelling. By displaying journalists’ works on a clean, well-designed website, readers are more likely to enjoy their time and easily navigate other content.”

“Eleanor and I are thrilled to leave this important legacy as part of the WCC staff,” said Emily.

In the upcoming 2023-2024 school year, Emily, Eleanor, and Webb Canyon Chronicle staff plan to also launch a mobile site and continue website improvements.
