Webb Seniors Honored by National Merit Scholarship Corp

The National Merit Scholarship Corp. (NMSC) has recognized 28 students in The Webb Schools’ Class of 2021 for their outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test taken in fall 2019.

Webb students include 21 Commended Students and seven National Merit Scholarship Finalists – including two Finalists who have been selected thus far to receive scholarships.

The students were among 1.5 million students from 21,000 high schools who entered the competition by taking the PSAT. In spring 2020, NMSC selected 50,000 top performers. Of those, 34,000 were honored as Commended Students and 16,000 were named Semi-Finalists.

In April, NMSC named just over 15,000 Finalists, of whom 7,500 would be selected as National Merit Scholars receiving $30 million in scholarships from corporations, NMSC and colleges.

Also in April, the organization released the names of the 1,000 students to win corporate-sponsored scholarships, followed in May by its scholarship winners. Winners of college-sponsored scholarships will be announced in June and July.
