Claremont Council Honors Undefeated VWS Soccer Team

The undefeated Vivian Webb varsity soccer team received a special recognition from the Claremont City Council on April 26.  

Head coach Malick Mbengue and the entire team were on hand to receive the certificate of recognition in Claremont City Hall Chambers.  

Mayor Jed Leano commended Mbengue and the team on an undefeated regular and postseason performance in their run to secure Webb’s first-ever CIF state championship.  

En route to winning that Division 5 championship, the team won the San Joaquin League title and the 2022 CIF-Southern Section Division 6 Southern Section championship.

After the season, Mbengue was named San Joaquin League Coach of the Year, Abbey Cook and Noe Chock were named to the Inland Empire Varsity First and Second Teams, respectively, by the Press Enterprise. Mbengue was named Inland Empire Coach of the Year by the Press Enterprise.
