Webb team wins #1 in Inland Empire Debate Tournament
Webb debaters brought their keen persuasion and reasoning skills to the Inland Empire Debate Tournament this Saturday hosted by Claremont McKenna College.
Brianna Stodghill ’26, Catherine Shen ’25, and Aiperi Bush ’24 were named the #1 team at the tournament. Brianna and Aiperi also earned individual speaker awards.
In addition, the tournament recognized Zona Zhou ’26 with an individual speaker award. Tychelle Moore-Culpeper ’27, Christina Teng ’27, and Grace Zhu ’25 received novice speaker awards.
Students debated three topics in three rounds of debate. The pre-announced topic was:
- The United States should adopt a three-day work week.
The impromptu topics were:
- The United States should adopt a maximum age for presidential candidate eligibility.
- States should be permitted to secede from the United States.
