VWS runner Nicole Samson ‘23 wins CIF-SS 800m Championship
This past weekend VWS runner Nicole Samson ‘23 won the CIF-SS 800m Championship at the Division IV track and field finals!
Her championship title completes a spectacular first year at Webb for Nicole. In the fall while running Cross Country, she was named 1st team all league and recognized by The Claremont Courier as a high school athlete of the season. In the spring, she broke the VWS track records for 800m (2:14.88), 1600m (5:09.27), and 3200m (11:17.43) events and was part of the record breaking 4×400 relay team (4:03.66) with Ella Garcia ‘25, Siena Burke ‘25, and Abbey Cook ‘23.
Nicole’s CIF Individual Championship makes her only the third VWS athlete in the school’s history to win a CIF Individual Championship. Rita Forte ‘99 won the CIF-SS 100 Meter Hurdles Championship in 1999 and Rylie Brick ‘19 won the CIF-SS 100 Yard Breaststroke Championship in 2018 and 2019.
