  • Bluebird Rocketry Team Successfully Fires Liquid Rocket Engine in Major Milestone

The student-led Bluebird Rocketry Club achieved a major milestone with the successful firing of its liquid rocket engine, Cardinal, during a test conducted in the Mojave Desert at Friends of Amateur Rocketry (FAR). The successful engine firing culminates months of student-driven research, design, testing and documentation; working at a level typically seen in collegiate and professional settings, students applied advanced concepts in physics, chemistry and engineering while refining their work through iterative testing. The quality of the team’s technical documentation has earned the students an invitation to present at the Liquid Propulsion Symposium on January 31, 2026, recognizing the rigor of their research process and offering an opportunity to share their work with professionals and peers in the propulsion field.
