Led by Hector Martinez, Dean of College Guidance
and supported by Anthony Shin, Associate Director, Webb’s program offers both grade-specific and one-on-one counseling during all four years on campus. In addition, representatives from over 100 colleges and universities across the country visit the Webb campus each year, giving students the opportunity to learn directly about a variety of colleges and also the chance to speak directly with admission decision-makers.
College guidance also offers students access to a search library and online resources with extensive materials on preparing for the SAT, writing admission essays, financial aid resources, and many other college-related subjects--helping students find "the right fit" is crucially important. Webb even hosts speakers and workshops each year to help students understand what they can do to better prepare themselves for the process.
But true college preparation begins long before testing. Academically, Webb graduates go beyond simply mastering their subjects matter: they are problem solvers, self-motivated explorers, and independent thinkers. Their boarding experience has prepared them for life on a college campus. Extracurricular activities have given them confidence, self-discipline, and a keen sense of responsibility and integrity.
The results of Webb’s college preparation and guidance speak for themselves. In 2018, 100% of our seniors were admitted to a selective four-year college or university, and 90% will attend schools rated in the top 10% in the nation.
