Alumni returned to campus on February 10 to speak at the 20th Annual Sophomore Career Evening, hosted by the Alumni Council.
Over the course of the night, alumni speakers shared their experiences with students, leading discussions about the field of medicine, how to follow your passion, careers in academia and education, the film and entertainment industry, and how to be an innovator in your industry.
During the opening remarks, Alumni Council President, Doug Gregg ’66, encouraged students to ask questions and take advantage of the Webb alumni network. Students then attended two sessions of their choice, followed by an opportunity to network with alumni over cookies and cocoa afterwards. While each session had its own focus, alumni shared with students just how influential their Webb experience was to their future and the importance of networking. Michael McDermott ’83 talked about the importance of the honor code and how it influenced his life and business. Christine Choi Kim '94 told students, “Don’t prepare the path for yourself, prepare yourself for the path.”
The Alumni Office extends a sincere thank you to the Alumni Council members who attended, Micol Issa ’05, Praveena Jeereddi ’90, Dwight Morgan ’65, Bill Ripley ’60 and President Doug Gregg ’66, and our 2019 alumni speakers:

One of the best ways to fully appreciate a Webb education is to look at the lives and achievements of our alumni. Each year, we honor a group of alumni for their accomplishments since graduation and pay tribute to their continued commitment to the mission and success of Webb. These awards recognize distinguished graduates who reflect the character and leadership qualities developed at Webb.
Thank you to the 1,500 alumni, parents, past parents, grandparents and friends who enabled Webb to end the 2018-19 Webb Fund year successfully on June 30. Your generosity helped The Webb Fund to raise over $1.9 million, plus additional support for endowment and capital improvements, bringing total gifts to $7.9 million, including 13 new estate gifts, which has become an ever-increasing and important part of our advancement program. Over 799 alumni, spanning nine decades, participated with gifts received from nearly every class between 1937 and 2018. Thank you for your contributions!
The Los Angeles Timesput together a dreamy four hour itinerary in the "City of Trees and PhDs." A destination it brands "delightfully smart,"is highlighted in a wonderful gallery of 20 photographs. Included in the piece are links to both The Webb Schools and the Alf Museum. Again, read more in the LATimes about the place Sunset Magazine labelled in 2016 "the best suburb in the West."
