Celebrating Webb Alumni Who Inspire and Lead

Webbies continue to shape the world in extraordinary ways. Through the Alumni Awards program, the Alumni Council and Board of Trustees annually recognize alumni whose accomplishments and contributions exemplify one or more core principles of Webb’s mission:
  • Think boldly, mindfully, and creatively,
  • Act with honor and moral courage,
  • Lead with distinction,
  • Serve with a generous spirit.
In 2025, we are honored to present awards to three exceptional alumni:

James Wetrich ’70 – Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award
Dwight Morgan ’65 – Colborn Distinguished Service Award
Stacy Chen ’12 – Young Alumni Rising Star Award

These individuals inspire us with their dedication and achievements. Read on to learn more about their remarkable journeys.

Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award
The Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award pays tribute to alumni who best exemplify the core values of The Webb Schools, reflecting the highest ideals of the school’s mottos of:

Principes non Homines and Sapientia Amicitia Atque Honor
“Leaders not ordinary men” and “Wisdom, Friendship and Honor”

JAMES WETRICH ’75

For more than forty-five years, James “Jim” Wetrich ’75 has championed innovation and leadership in healthcare and business. His Webb experiences in student government, athletics, and as a summer math tutor helped to lay the foundation for a career defined by service, integrity, and strategic vision.

During his tenure at Abbott Laboratories, Jim oversaw a billion-dollar customer and strategic initiatives and led transformational partnerships that reshaped industry standards.

Building on that success, he founded The Wetrich Group of Companies in 2001 and today serves as Senior Advisor to the firm. He has consulted with over 100 companies and also works as CEO Mentor at Building Champions, guiding executives and organizations across sectors to realize their full potential.

Jim combines practical leadership with education and coaching. Since 2016, he has served as an adjunct professor of marketing at Texas Wesleyan University, and he has lectured at Emory University’s Goizueta School of Business. He also blogs, speaks, and mentors emerging and established leaders.

His academic credentials reflect his commitment to lifelong learning: a B.S. in Biological Sciences from USC; a Master of Health Administration from Tulane; and an MBA from Emory (where he graduated first in his class). He is also a Fellow of Stanford’s Distinguished Careers Institute and holds a certificate in Executive & Professional Coaching from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Jim has mentored over 100 executives, accumulating more than 1,500 hours of coaching. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the International Coaching Federation Professional Coaches Global Board, helping shape coaching worldwide.

His published work includes the book Stifled: Where Good Leaders Go Wrong, and contributions to anthologies such as Quitless and 7-Figure Minds. He has been featured on over 25 podcasts and in publications including Forbes

His dedication to Webb is unwavering. Jim is a Peccary Society member, longtime volunteer, former class agent (2008–2023), and has chaired multiple reunion committees. He also serves on the Alumni Council as a member at large. He and his wife Nancy have endowed scholarships at Emory University and Texas Wesleyan, supporting future scholars.

With integrity, intelligence, and generosity, Jim continues to embody Webb’s values.

Colborn Distinguished Service Award
Named in honor of Ken Colborn ’47, the Colborn Distinguished Service Award pays tribute to an alumnus/a in recognition of their selfless commitment and ongoing volunteer service to The Webb Schools and/or the Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology.

DWIGHT MORGAN ’65

Dwight Morgan ’65 has exemplified the true spirit of Webb through his loyalty, generosity, and unwavering commitment to service. Although his time as a student was brief, his connection to the school has endured a lifetime—rooted in deep gratitude and a firm belief in Webb’s mission. These qualities have made Dwight one of Webb’s most dedicated volunteers, ambassadors, and friends.

Over the years, Dwight has served the Webb community in numerous capacities. As a class agent from 2000 to 2023, reunion chair for his 40th, 45th, and 50th reunions, and member-at-large of the Alumni Council from 2019 to 2023, he has helped strengthen alumni engagement and fostered a sense of shared purpose among generations of Webbies. A natural connector, Dwight has been a participating force behind the enduring closeness of the Class of 1965, keeping classmates informed, engaged, and united through his warmth and outreach.

Known for his tireless, hands-on support, Dwight has attended countless alumni events, often arriving early to help set up and staying late to ensure every detail is complete. His service continues today as a volunteer with the Webb Archives, where he helps organize and preserve the school’s century-long history.

Dwight’s philanthropy is equally remarkable. A member of the Hastings Society with 41 consecutive years of giving, he also belongs to the Thompson and Vivian Webb Society and has been an advocate for the Class of 1965 Scholarship Fund, now in its fourth year supporting deserving students.

Through his steadfast presence, generous spirit, and lifelong devotion, Dwight Morgan embodies the enduring values of Webb and the legacy of Ken Colborn ’47—the very ideals celebrated by the Colborn Distinguished Service Award.

Young Alumni Rising Star Award
The Young Alumni Rising Star Award honors a graduate from the past 15 years who has attained early career distinction and leveraged that success into meaningful impact in their communities or in service to others.

STACY CHEN ’12

Stacy Chen ’12 has built her career around storytelling, representation, and community—values first nurtured during her time at Webb. As an engaged student and leader on campus, she forged friendships and learned lessons about integrity, collaboration, and amplifying others’ voices that continue to shape her professional journey.

After Webb, Stacy earned her degree in political science and journalism from the University of Michigan and began her career at ABC News. Starting as an associate producer in Los Angeles and later becoming a producer, she covered breaking news, major cultural events like the Oscars and Emmys, and produced original features that highlighted the Asian American experience. Beyond her newsroom work, she served on ABC’s internal Culture Council, helping advance initiatives that supported AAPI storytellers and expanded representation in media coverage.

In 2022, Stacy completed her MBA at NYU’s Stern School of Business, discovering a new passion for the business side of media. She joined Disney Advertising as a multicultural audience strategist, where she leads cross-platform brand campaigns and audience development efforts. Stacy also helped create Project Elevate, a Disney initiative that supports and educates minority-owned small businesses. Her leadership has driven measurable results, including a 34% year-over-year increase in revenue for her team.

Through every chapter of her career, Stacy has remained committed to using storytelling as a force for connection and equity. Just as she did at Webb, she continues to build community, elevate voices, and make a lasting impact through her work and example.
