9 Webb Students Present With Professional Paleontologists

This past weekend, nine Webb students took the professional stage at the 2026 Western Association of Vertebrate Paleontologists meeting (WAVP), hosted by The Alf Museum at The Webb Schools. Presenting original research alongside leading scientists from across the western United States, our Advanced Studies in Paleontology students demonstrated the depth and rigor of Webb’s distinctive paleo program.

Mila L-S. received the student presentation award for her oral presentation on a fused crocodylomorph hemipelvis from the “Mesaverde” Formation with Dr. Andrew A. Farke, Director of the Alf Museum and Webb science faculty member. Andrew H.’s research in the field was also recognized with the student poster award. Reflecting on the weekend, Dr. Farke shared, “I’m so incredibly proud of our students, our museum, and Webb.”

WAVP 2026 brought together more than 100 researchers, museum professionals, and graduate students to share new discoveries and ideas across deep time. Webb students engaged in authentic scientific inquiry, conducting original research, collaborating with world-class paleontologists and presenting their findings in a professional conference setting. This level of academic research and public presentation reflects a model of hands-on learning that is emblematic in Webb’s curriculum. Hosting this major regional conference on Webb's campus underscores the Alf Museum’s national leadership and highlights a program that continues to expand opportunity, rigor and real-world engagement for Webb students.
