Spring Athletics Update: An Outstanding Season Across Webb Teams

It has been an outstanding spring season for Webb athletics, and we’re excited to share updates from across our teams. From record-setting performances to moments of growth, resilience and teamwork, our student-athletes have represented Webb with energy and pride. As the season continues, we look forward to celebrating more achievements and cheering on our Gauls as they finish strong.
Athletic Season Updates

Student-athlete recognitions:  
  • Maya Chin – CIF Student-Athlete of the Year 
  • Matthew Jung – CIF Student-Athlete of the Year  
  • Boys Soccer – CIF Academic Team Champions 
  • Girls Tennis– CIF Academic Team Champions 
Swim and Dive:  
The Swim and Dive team captains said, “The team has been on fire recently!” They have been undefeated in league this season and at the prestigious Bulldog Invitational, the boys team placed second in a meet with over 1,000 swimmers! There were many top five finishes and a big shout-out to Audrey Ard-Huddy for her first place finishes in the 50 free and 100 back stroke. 
 
With CIF on the horizon, the team is looking really good and excited for the competition. The girls have already clocked an automatic qualifying time for CIF in the 4 x 100 freestyle relay, and both the girls and boys have some great individual and relay consideration times. Before heading to CIF, the team has league finals and senior night on Friday, May 1, at 3pm. 
 
Baseball:  
Baseball has their senior game this Friday, May 1, on Chandler Field at 3:15pm. As the team wraps up league play, they have their eyes on the league play-in tournament which starts on May 5 for shot at reaching the CIF playoffs bracket. 
 
Softball:  
With a win on Monday, April 20, against Entrepreneur Highlands, the team is getting ready for a week of league play and their senior game at home on Friday, May 1 at 3:15 pm. The team has been building great momentum all season with notable development in their batting skills!  
 
Badminton:  
The Badminton team wrapped up league play last week with a big win on senior night against Chino Hills High School. The team is currently in third place in the Valle Vista league and anticipates a team spot in CIF playoffs. Badminton individual championships begin Tuesday, April 28.  
 
Volleyball:  
The boys volleyball team was the undefeated league champion of the Academy league. The team celebrated their 4 graduating seniors last week and will head to the first round of CIF playoffs on Wednesday, April 29, versus Inglewood High School.  
 
Track and Field:  
The track team has had an exciting season and will compete for the league championship on Wednesday, April 29, at 2:30 pm on Faculty Field. This season has been especially exciting for the frosh-soph athletes with Kennedy Clarke and Tongqin Zan winning races at the San Gabriel Valley Championship and multiple relay teams medaling as well! Varsity athletes continue to improve their PRs and Aaden Mozia has set another school record in the 100 m dash. Aaden’s new record time in the 100 m is 10.79 seconds!  
 
Boys Golf:  
After a season of many close matches, the golf team finished third in the San Joaquin league last week. This week, Webb Golf will continue their play at league prelims and finals. The team is waiting to see if they will qualify for a spot in CIF post-season. The four senior golfers celebrated their senior match earlier in the month with a league win against Samueli! 
 
Boys Tennis:  
Last week, the tennis team won their senior tennis match and celebrated the three graduating seniors. Webb Tennis finished 2nd in the San Joaquin league with a league record of 8-2 and an overall season record of 12-4. This week the team will head into league prelims and will play the league finals matches at Webb on Wednesday, April 28, beginning at 2pm. It should be an exciting day for singles and doubles matches! The CIF postseason will begin the following week, and the team anticipates continuing on in post-season matches.
